Well, this Crane is rather different from the original too, so it makes sense that Bram Bones is. A lot of role reversal going on there in terms of who's the hero and who's the villain... But Bram Bones definitely wasn't so upper class in the story, as I recall.

Action!Irving is awesome!

I completely agree about Katrina. The only thing I can think there is that she was dressing to please her fiancé while taking a flexible view of some aspects of her faith. Although why she would worry about pleasing him when she was planning to break up with him is beyond me.

Def not, just as Ichabod isn't the unattractive guy that Katrina's trying to ditch. ;-) (Although he is still a schoolmaster of sorts!) But now I'm feeling silly for not seeing the outcome from the moment "Abraham" was mentioned, 'cause . . .

I so have to reread the story. It's been decades.

True. I kind of like the "schoolmaster" touch. And I suppose making Bram the headless horseman does fit the original, after a fashion.

I should hunt the story down too.
