Christmas episode! Kind of.

We learn the fate of Ichabod's son, finally get a chance to hear from Katrina about what happened to her after Ichabod died, and see Walter Bishop Henry Parrish again. No sign of Jenny this week, but we get some heartbreaking scenes where Irving realizes what kinds of sacrifices he may be called on to make to help Abbie and Ichabod.

And we get a bit of discussion about how languages has changed over the centuries!

Irving's story is so going to break my heart, isn't it? That meeting in the church, and his apology to his wife...he thought death was the worst thing he faced and was trying to make amends accordingly. But now he knows worse can come. I'm wondering if he'll cut off contact with his daughter in an attempt to protect her. And will that work, or will that open the path for Moloch, as Jeremy's abandonment opened the path for the golem?

Crane broke my heart too. There was no happy ending for his son, and all of Katrina's sacrifice meant nothing there. So sad!

This ep was...weird lol.

I am glad the son storyline is wrapped up fast. Its for the best.

POOR GOLEM. :( POOR CRANE.

It was nice to see Walternate again.

It was a little odd.

I'm glad they wrapped the story up, but that's not how I was hoping it would end! I wanted Ichabod descendents running around! Although we don't know for sure it is wrapped up, tbh. Is the son actually dead, or is in suspended animation like his father?

If he is, I don't see him coming back as a regular. More likely a one-off thing next season.

I agree that the tone of this one felt a bit out of synch with a lot else of what we've seen. I'm still wondering, though, if that has something to do with Katrina -- I'm wondering if all the apparent inconsistences which I've been putting down to uneven writing are really something else . . .

I hope it's planned and not the writing, but I also hope that it's not that Katrina's evil. Surely there's another way!
