What exactly is involved with being a show captain? Are there specific shows besides SPN that need captains? (I don't watch SPN).

I really want to get more involved with this community. I talk about TV all the time at my own journal and I'd like to be more active here and I have a very open schedule and spend a fair amount of time at the computer. I don't watch shows live, though I do watch my favorites within a day or so of airing usually, though I occasionally fall behind.

Sounds like you'd make a perfect captain, and maybe a co-mod, if you'd be interested?

Being a captain is fairly straightforward: just pick a show you want to talk about (can be any show you like that doesn't already have a captain) and when a new episode airs, post a comment listing the ep in your homebase post. When you reach 5000 comments in a post (DW's limit) you make a new post.

There are other bells and whistles you can add, if you like; everyone does it a little differently, but that's the gist.

A co-mod takes a little more dedication, in that we are looking for someone to post Mon, Tues and Wed--and to post something that looks approximately like this post, in that it will have an 'airing tonight,' 'airing soon' and 'what we are talking about' section, each with links.

I'm trying to jazz it up a little, by adding relevant links to interesting content across the webs. Also working on adding in polls and other interactive things. Basically, whatever you like, so long as a round-up post points to current discussions in homebases.

Does any of that sound appealing?

I'm probably not ready to do the co-mod thing. I think I need to ease myself into this a bit with something less intimidating.

I would like to give being a captain a try. The show I'm keeping up with the most timely at the moment (now that OUaT is on hiatus until March) and love is Justified. I'd love to do Once Upon a time but it won't be back until March and I'm not sure how much interest there is for that. I'm not sure how much interest there is in Justified either. I do love both shows and write reaction posts for them regularly as it is.

To be honest I have the time to do the co-mod thing, I just feel that I would worry that I wasn't doing it right/getting something wrong etc.

fabulous! If you want to start out making a homebase post for Justified, that would be cool. Or a primer?

Do you think it needs a primer? I could do that. Just checked out some of the primers for the other shows. It shouldn't take me too long to put one together.
Then make a homebase post after? The second episode of season 5 aired Tuesday (a few hours ago my time)night. I've already put together a graphic I want to use on the homebase post.
