I think he's getting a clue but a) he's trusting Dean and b) possibly Zeke is messing around with just enough to make things fuzzy for him.

I think the juxtaposition of the camaraderie they brothers shared this episode with the dark cloud of this secret still looming is setting us up. Like 'oh look how good they get along, look at them working a case, look at how they humor each other and are comfortable, etc.' and the BAM!!
The whole thing is making me squirm because I know it's going to hurt. And I think that's EXACTLY what TPTB are doing.

I think Dean's comment at the end about sometimes something possesses you and it just takes over (or something, I'm paraphrasing) and his earlier comment about 'having power over other lives because you have none over your own' were both very telling about where Dean's headspace is now.
/random post-episode comment.

Dean is getting very uncomfortable with this, to the point of almost asking 'how long is this going to take?' in that opening scene in the batcave.

Sam knows something is off, but he's getting 8 hours of sleep a night, he feels good, he's in a good space and he trusts Dean. He doesn't *want* anything to be wrong.

Right. I was kind of thinking along the lines of a mini-mind-wipe but a barrier works, too. Sam principle. ETA... er... I meant SAME principle. funny typo though
OTOH, I like this theory but I had a theories this time last year about Sam's year and.... nope! So now I'm thinking that I'm thinking too much...
*runs around in circles LIKE A DOG CHASING ITS TAIL*

Sam just wants to trust Dean.
*sobs*

But Sam does get this distant, spaced-out kind of look when it seems he'd logically be thinking about it.
*peers at tail, considers chasing it*

Sorry, I'm kind of working on my 9.05 piece for episodic_supernatural and I couldn't resist the dog puns. ;P

Yeah I mean I'd love it if it were true and the reason Sam's taking so long to grok all this is because of Zeke, but...I hate to say but I feel like that may be giving the writers too much credit. OTOH I see 'Checkov's guns' everywhere that never fire. I think that's part of the overly productive center of the fannish brain.

Are you doing episodic supernatural? I wanted to, but I knew with all the challenges and whatnot, I'd fail out the gate. But I'm excited to see what you made!

I am doing episodic supernatural! I don't know how long I'll be able to keep up, but 2 weeks should give me time to at least SEE the episode.

Right now I'm making a video to 9.05, starring Colonel, the dog. WHY!?!?!
