Rec Fest FAQ

Hopefully everyone has been selecting some shows to rec next week! As this will be our first go at this, we wanted to set up this post for any questions people have (now or after the fest starts).

A post will be going out each day beginning Sunday with the genre(s) of the day and information on what to include in your recs. This would be:

Show Title:
Audience Rating: Young Children/All Ages/Teen and Up/Mature Content
Warnings: (Could include gory content, raunchy situations, explicit sex, offensive content, etc.)
Length of Episodes: (30 minutes/1 hour/Other)
Length of Series: (Number of seasons or number of episodes)
Why you recommend it: (What draws you to it? What niche does it fill/mood is it good for?)

You can copy and paste the following code into your comment.

Feel free to include any other information you’d like, such as what year(s) the show was originally broadcast, standout cast members, or what other shows it may connect to or be similar to. You can also include outside links to Wikipedia, Fanlore, IMDB, your favorite review etc. which contain more show information.

If you have a question about making a recommendation, please post here, and also check here to see if the question has already been answered!

Our schedule will be:

Sunday: Family viewing/Children's Shows
Monday: Comedies
Tuesday: Dramas
Wednesday: Sci Fi/Fantasy
Thursday: Mysteries or Horror
Friday: Romances (shows that focus on a couple or romance theme, even if they cross into other genres)
Saturday: Miscellaneous (any shows you don't think fit the other categories!)

how many recs per comment? just wondering if you prefer one per comment or if multiple recs in one comment is ok

Good question! I think it might be easiest to have one rec per comment and put the show title in the subject line. Makes it easier for people scanning the posts to see what's there.

Are these recommendations posts going to be in addition to, or instead of, other regularly scheduled posts (e.g. the Tuesday discussion, the Saturday "wot I watched this week" posts)?

Also, just to clarify for everyone, after the fest these posts will be linked to from a sticky post and also our profile so that any new visitors to tv_talk can browse them for recommendations. They will remain open for additions past this week, though we are hoping to get a good starter batch of recs by next weekend 🙂

As misbegotten said above, in terms of our regularly scheduled posts, those will resume after the Fest concludes.
