Teaser for "Ripley" with Andrew Scott

Release: April 4

Tom Ripley (Andrew Scott) is a grifter scraping by in early ’60s New York. He’s hired by a wealthy industrialist to travel to Italy to try to convince the man’s dilettante son, Dickie Greenleaf (Johnny Flynn), to return home. Accepting the job is Tom’s first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud, and murder.

Ooh, I've always been a bit leery of the Ripley idea (I prefer my con artists cartoonishly heart-of-gold-y), but I do enjoy Andrew Scott. Thanks for posting this!

Wow, just watched The Talented Mr. Ripley for the first time this week and I just don't think it needs a re-do. That movie is GOOD! Hmmmm....I adore Scott, but I'm beginning to think his talent may need a different agent.

It just seems to me that he's not getting as plummy roles as he ought. He's got mad skills for chemistry and connecting.

Yet another take on this story. To date there have been:

Talented Mr. Ripley films ranked worst to best

Yes, there have been that many.

It's been adapted five times, not including Saltburn. My favorite is Purple Noon.

Yeah, I saw Saltburn, I didn't like it. But I also don't like satire that much - and Saltburn is pure satire. A bit over-the-top in places.

Didn't hate it either. Just kind of meh? But again, not a fan of satire.

Wow, I did not know this! Someone should do a post!

And Saltburn as Ripley...that's an astonishing connection and one I simply hadn't considered. Guess I'll have to take a google dive.

Saltburn is kind of Talented Mr. Ripley meets Brideshead Revisited. But it helps if you've seen or read both, otherwise you won't see it.
