AND probably the seven dwarf robots.
THORS ARMS
I thought it was good. I really hope it gets better and better after the pilot, but i liked May and Simmons and Fitz

Fave moment: Thor's arms, lollllll
Fave characters: I liked the basically 5 seconds we got of Melinda May. And of course I love Coulson and Hill. I was also drawn to the incredibly synchronous dorkiness of Fitz and Simmons.
MOTW: I'm guessing this Rising Tide/Centipede thing is going to be the ongoing arc with otherwise mostly MOTW stuff. I'm ok with that but I do want this show to feel more cohesive than just MOTW. That's just a personal preference though.
Thor's Arms ahahahahahaha
Alum: Yesss I recognized several (even that one guy from Firefly :P). I'm not real crazy about Whedon and his clique or whatever. Basically I don't care as long as he picks the ones that can act rather than just his friends. And even though she wasn't Eliza Dushku, Skye/her actress struck me as very Eliza Dushku-like/Faith-like. I'll get over it.
Overall Opinion: Man I feel like a traitor but it was.. pretty good. I think I just got too excited. It had plenty of those typical Whedon quips which I love, and I'm glad to get some updated jokes which draw on new pop culture stuff since Buffy's getting outdated now. ;D Coulson was great and even if it was crappy I'd probably keep tuning in for my weekly dose of Coulson. But as for this episode, there was a LOT of stuff going on, a lot of characters to introduce, etc etc, and I feel like this should have been a 2 hour premiere. But anyway it has hella potential and COULSON!!!!!! So I will keep watching. :D

I would like more than MOTW too.

- Favourite moment? Kind of a tie between the climax of the episode and the very end with Lola becoming a hovercraft
- Characters we got a look at : Hill, Coulson, May, Fitz, Simmons, Ward & Skye. Favourites? Hill and Coulson are the obvious ones and I love what we've seen of May so far. Skye honestly kind of annoyed me, but then again, Whedon characters like Topher and Anya annoyed me when they first appeared too, and she sort of fits in between those two IMO, to so I'm hopeful she'll grow on me in time.
- I'm guessing it'll be mostly monster of the week. How you think that will go? It should be fine for a first season, but hopefully there'll also be some character growth and arcs as well. We've already got the mystery of Coulson's ressurection and May's backstory to look forward to seeing.
- Thor's ARMS - and very impressive ones at that. :-)
- Did you recognise some Whedon Alum? Just the ones we already knew were going to show up, like J. August Richards and Ron Glass.
- Overall Opinion?? I liked it. It was exactly what I thought it would be - a pilot/first ep, that was obviously going to have some rough edges to it (Even a Whedon one can have a few kinks in it). But it was definitely more than enough to keep me coming back next week.
Now I just have to catch up on Sleepy Hollow and the Voice and my TV week will be off to a good start.

Favorite moment: Anything with Hill, anything with Melinda May
Favorite character based on the pilot: Melinda May, Hill because obviously - I was actually cool with all of the characters, though I can see Ward getting on my nerves if they don't develop him past the lone-wolf/company man type and soon
MOTW: Not sure about the monster-of-the-week formula but as long as they keep sprinkling in the mythology, it should be okay.
Alum: RON GLASS! I don't know if I knew he'd be in it and just forgot or if I missed that announcement but I was EXCITE!!! Ron and J. August Richards were both excellent. IDK if I saw anyone else.
Overall Opinion: I liked it but probably not as much as some people. I don't really care about the Avengers-verse (though I'd watch anything with Hill) but I'm a Whendonverse fan in general and this had that typical Whedon feel, what with the dialogue and the team-building. It has the potential to be awesome but I'm cool if I never get beyond the 'this is a fun ride with cool characters' stage.
Side-note: I've seen people compare both May and Skye to Eliza Dushku's Faith and I just don't really get that. Yes, May kicks ass in Faith-esque costumes and Skye has that Faith-attitude but neither one struck me as a Faith-doppelganger or anything.

can't wait for himym to end so we get ALL THE HILL.
i don't see the may resemblance at all. I kinda see whats happening with skye, but faith was kinda special i guess?

Do we know for sure if CS would do another show so soon, though? I mean, she's done HIMYM for like 9 seasons.

I've seen people compare both May and Skye to Faith since the first promos/character descriptions were released. People saw the May-Faith thing because May is the heavy-hitter of the team and she wears a lot of leather. (Maybe there are other reasons, but that's all I can remember.) And with Skye, it was the passing physical resemblance and the snarky attitude. IDK...I just think it's odd that people are comparing two characters on the SAME show to Faith :)
As far as the line-reading/facial expression similarities you saw, I'd have to go back and re-watch but I don't remember anything specific that made me think of Faith. Obviously, that's all open to interpretation, though.

I quite liked the pilot, but I found some of the lines or the delivery to be a bit too cheesy for the sort of show I thought it'd be. Coulson seems to be much more of a goofball than I thought! But I'm hoping monster-of-the-week will be made into something more complex. I'm hoping the show gets a bit more intense to be honest, I paused multiple times while watching.

Melinda May
Also, if Coulson wasn't in Tahiti where was he? WHAT DO MARIA HILL AND SHEPHERD BOOK KNOW?!!?
- Characters we got a look at : Hill, Coulson, May, Fitz, Simmons, Ward & Skye. Favourites?
Melina May
- I'm guessing it'll be mostly monster of the week. How you think that will go?
Sure! I think they'll have some sort of overall arc though, and someone will have a hidden agenda.
- Thor's ARMS
LOL - I did like that scene
- Did you recognise some Whedon Alum?
yup
- Overall Opinion??
I think because I'm not really in the Marvel/Avengers fandom and haven't really been paying attention to spoilers or anything that I was really entertained. In other words, I wasn't hyped outside of generally looking forward to it. Does that make sense?

needs more may, tbh.
good, glad you're happy :D

I was whelmed by SHIELD. Here was what I thought as it was happening: Gee, I guess Joss has finally learned his lesson.
I don't think what we want from his work is what the network wants. Also, pilot, so going to be uneven. but on the plus side: Coulson! And subverting every single trope and expectation virtually as soon as it was presented! That can only happen in the Whedonverse. So yeah, on the one hand: meh, but on the other, it's the sort of meh you give when your genius kid brings home an A- paper, you know?
Perhaps more will be revealed.
