Re: 3x11 Down the Drain
MTE! It was so, IDK, natural, too, like he
didn't pause as if considering "am I really gonna do this right here in front of all our coworkers?" or anything, and she didn't seem surprised at all (which was maybe the more eyebrow-raising thing for me).
I totally think they're dating (ever since Provenza pointed out that they've gone out to dinner A LOT), BUT I'm on the fence as to whether *they* think they're dating. It seems that the coming episodes will address that (YAY), and part of me hopes that they totally know they're dating and have just been playing stupid (because lol), but part of me also thinks it would be hilarious if they've dated all this time (a year!) Without realizing it. The latter kind of plays into the cheek kiss, I think, because it would make sense that they're so deep in denial regarding what's happening that they're probably like "cheek kissing is a thing that TOTALLY PLATONIC FRIENDS do okay" and have no concept that their coworkers might think otherwise.
/I well never stop flailing about this ship. THIS BEAUTIFUL CANON SHIP THAT I'VE BEEN SHIPPING FOR FOUR YEARS :3
Re: 3x11 Down the Drain
Expecting the team to be okay with them dating is one thing, expecting their boss to be okay with them dating.... I keep feeling that that's going to become an issue.
Re: 3x11 Down the Drain
On the other hand, James Duff has, on at least one occasion, said that the LAPD doesn't have rules against fraternisation? Which seems a little weird to me, but if that's the premise he's working with, that's FINE BY ME. And it would explain why no one (not even Tylor) minds.
Re: 3x11 Down the Drain
I've seen a Facebook post from him saying that there's no policy prohibiting two officers in the same division from dating. Which is consistent with what happened on The Closer, when Gabriel and Daniels were dating.
*But* (and this is where my criminal justice nerdery comes in), Sharon and Andy aren't just two officers in the same division. She's his superior, and the commanding officer of a high-profile unit. Soooo, let's just say that I have a feeling that the language being used in the post I've seen (and I think I've only seen one) might just be vague enough to lead people into certain assumptions. ;)
Re: 3x11 Down the Drain
YES EXACTLY. And she leaned in, too! It was kind of like, 'we've done this a million times before and are now doing it any chance we get, oh look! adoption went through! celebration! cheek kiss!' IDEK.
Both options would be fine by me. Although "cheek kissing is a thing that TOTALLY PLATONIC FRIENDS do okay" is my favourite, so I guess I want that option? I'm never sure if Sharon would really be that clueless, though. On the one hand, she's so very not clueless about every single thing in her life, but on the other, I can totally see her being clueless about this of all things. IDK IDK I'm sure I will be fine (lol "fine" ghasjkdhgkahsd freaks out) with whatever option they go with.
THE BEST. I love when ships happen so organically. Like, you can ruin ships so easily by throwing ridiculous, unrealistic things at them, but this ship works for me. So very much.
Re: 3x11 Down the Drain
Afshsjsjdsdgfhv YES SHE DID. These dummies, I swear.

SAME. I think what leads me toward her not realizing is that a) she's traditionally been a little bit of an awkward turtle on the interpersonal relationship front, b) she was married (thus, unavailable) for a long time and so probably isn't honed into the signs of "we are dating", and c) Andy *is* her friend, and one does get the sense that they're comfortable in their relationship, so maybe neither of them are even *looking* for signs (until a catalyst forces them into it, *cough cough*).
Ah, back in the Major Crimes spiral. I love this stupid show so much, I can't even. It's a good thing I have time to burn at work today!
Oh, ALSO, I so loved Rusty basically referring to Sharon as his mom. Especially when he said that he had to ask for time off to "change mothers" like, how adorable was that?
