Judging from the episode descriptions,I think there's going to be some Cora stuff and I assume we'll more about her then. Crappy writing or not, that is just one plot point that I really can't imagine them dropping completely *lol*

Re: Jackson's eyes:

Could the people he killed as the Kanima be the reason behind his blue eyes?

If eyes went blue for killing innocents then maybe, while feeling with his own sense of morality, killing the people he did for Matt was, to him, killing an innocent??

I can't get a beat on Cora. I just find her flat. I'm not sure what her purpose is to the plot and I don't really get anything from her interactions with the characters. I, personally, think she's evil.

I think maybe he tried to do too much with them and was just too... ambitious. Like his ambitions for the characters outstripped his ability. Saying that though having that number of characters introduced should be possible. We managed to learn about Stiles and Scott and Melissa and the Sheriff and Derek and Peter and Lydia and Jackson and Danny and the coach and Chris and Allison relatively quickly in the first season so it can be done, introducing that number of characters quickly, I just don't feel like they have been integrated or developed enough. They do things and we have no idea why other than "because they are evil". And that's not enough. Peter was evil because of pain and revenge. Kate because of her beliefs. Gerard it was due to his philosophy and revenge - initially - but then it twisted around to be about trying to escape death, about his own narcissism and hypocrisy. Matt because of revenge and early trauma. The alphas? They just wander round peer pressuring alphas to kill their packs because of reasons.

Deucalion has to go. He's too panto villain to survive. Maybe him and Gerard will have a show down to the death and be done with it. They started the war, they finish it. And then the past can stay in the past and the present can get on with becoming a brighter future. Or something. I kind of want Cora to turn out to have been working with Deucalion but then to turn out to have been traumatised/brainwashed/terrified and secretly a good person who cares about her brother. Then her whole weirdness could be a result of her trying to hide that she's a lying liar who lies. And I kind of want Ethan to turn on Aiden and the other Alphas and side with the rest of them (and, maybe, if Scott can develop alpha powers Ethan can choose to give up his so he's not even a threat to the status quo). The rest I'm faily wev. about.

So I went to write a quick post on my journal about this ep and ended up writing like oh so much!! But on you're questions:

What did you think of Derek's backstory?
I thought it was a cheap storyline that was there just to make us go "oh poor Derek!!" His eyes could have been blue because he felt he had killed his family after Kate and that self blame changed them. Inventing a girl to kill to make the male character even more tragic is just ... irritating hack writing. If they never mention her again I will be oh so much more pissed off. At this point I'm hoping she turns out to be Kate and Chris's littlest sister or something which is what makes Kate specifically target Derek just to lessen how cheap her death feels.

How do you feel about Talia and the other alphas?
I like Talia. I would like to see more Talia. I would also like to know how Deucalion managed to persuade Kali and Ellis to kill all those Beta's they had with them (and whether Talia tried to stop them- was the Hale pack fighting on two fronts, crazy Gerard on one side trying to wipe them out while crazy Deucalion was on the other trying to tear down the very fabric of what it meant to be pack? was this why Derek's relationship with Kate was missed?)

- Unreliable narrators! Gerard and Peter
Boring choices. We already know they are liars. The kids already know that they are liars. We may know slightly more than the kids do about what actually happened but they know not to trust the information they were given and to use it as a starting point. It would have been more interesting to use that technique with a character who the kids do trust- Deacon for instance - so that the audience knows more than the kids and thus tension is created. Also, we only just had an entire episode structured around flashbacks and now we've another one in like less than a month? Lazy storytelling.

Not much of the main cast this ep, but a little stiles and scott and allison!
Which sucks. Again we're being told about people we don't care about instead of seeing what's happening with the characters we do care about and their relationships and their grief.

no lydia :(
See above. :S

Lots of things answered!
In what felt like a really boring way. Honestly, Gerard doing his mad-eyed Shakespearean villain lunging over Deucalion with those arrows should have been shocking and viceral but instead I was just fairly bored. The idea was good, the execution was bad.

Still, I'm not going to stop watching. I'm just going to sit here and hope they know what they're doing.

Exactly, its a cheap melodramatic ploy that, because he's had so much trauma already, is just "meh, K, whatever. What about his recent trauma of Boyd being killed on his own claws, how's he doing with that?" Its easily dismissed. Its unnecessary.

I hope the rest of the season makes up for the season so far. :S But with more Talia. :D

*is SOOOOO late to the party*

I'm not even sure what that episode was? It felt like fanfic. Rather uninteresting fanfic at that. Krissy Chambers was interesting, I kept expecting her to whip out her cell phone and call the Winchesters....
(... oh, this wasn't a crossover fanfic with Mary Sue as Derek's high school girlfriend as Krissy Chambers from Supernatural???)

Gerard being all mastermindEVILstoryteller was entertaining. I think he's horrible but he's so deliciously horrible that it makes me want to grab the popcorn.

MOVING ON. New episode in a couple days?
