Under the Dome 101 (Pilot Episode Discussion)

Let's discuss the very first episode of Stephen King's Under the Dome.
What did you like? What did you loathe?
Share it all; just be courteous to other posters please.
Spoilers are allowed under the cut!
Questions to begin with:
What was your favorite scene?
What was the most disturbing moment to watch?
Do you have a favorite character or couple yet?

i like that its kinda jericho-like in its set up!
my favourite scene was probably colin ford looking for a power source - it was just like, neat that someone thought about that.
the disturbing stuff was definitely the disturbing guy (junior?)and his kidnapping of britt robertson (i dunno their names yet i'll get there!!!)
I quite like Red-head reporter and the new mysterious guy for shipping purposes, but other than that nothing really yet. EVERYONE IS MYSTERIOUS! But he killed her husband or maybe killed him so i dunno!
I did not expect duke to die...his pacemaker exploded????
GREAT FIRST EPISODE!!!

I guess I'll go first!
What was your favorite scene? Probably my favorite scene was Dale (aka Barbie) realizing he had killed Julia's husband. That was an eerie moment.
What was the most disturbing moment to watch? Uh the cow being severed in half. Sure it wasn't a real cow being severed but still it had a big ewwww factor to it. I also was disturbed by Angie being locked in a bomb shelter. Her now I assume former love is a big creeper!
Do you have a favorite character or couple yet? Oh I am trying so hard not to ship every show I watch but I could definitely get into Barbie and Julia eventually. They have a really cool dynamic.
I like this series so far and hope it succeeds!
Re: I guess I'll go first!
i'd completely forgotten about the cow!!!
:D i am pretty sure we're getting 12 episodes no matter what, which is great

We called all the characters by who they are.
I don't trust the Councilman or jealous!creepy! boyfriend...and was surprised to find out they're father and son! I so want Barbie to kick jealous!creepy! boyfriend's ass to save the candy striper girlfriend
Loved the plane crash scene, if only to yell at that boy just standing there staring at it as it was falling down around him. Loved the cow splitting scene. that was cool.
Barbie. ha! What's his "real" name...and when is Journalist Lady going to find out he killed her husband?
I loved the bi-racial lesbian couple and their daughter. as well as the sheriff (damn is he really gone?!)
what did the 2 teens that had the seizure babble? it was something about falling stars? I didn't get it all. And I wonder if what they said has anything to do with the Dome.
interesting things it took me 3 days to realize: natalie martinez and aisha hinds were in Detroit 1-8-7 together. Aisha played Lt. Maureen Mason on 187 and she's the black lady in the bi-racial lesbian couple on Dome and Natalie played Det. Ariana Sanchez on 187 and is Dep. Linda on Dome.
I'll be tuning in next week for sure!

The sheriff surprised me. Although he struggled as the dome went up, so something obviously interfered with his pacemaker. Still, the thing exploding in his chest was startling and makes me worry about that Councilman dude because HE HAS PLANS and with the sheriff out of the way....

What was the most disturbing moment to watch? - the lady who was simply gardening when her hand was chopped off - GARDENING IS DANGEROUS YO
The girl getting kidnapped and waking up in the bunker. :(
Do you have a favorite character or couple yet?
- I like the MacCalister kid, he's already making friends with the skateboarder dude and that seems like a promising setup for plotty stuff
- I sort of like 'Barbie'
what an amusingly absurd nameand the journalist but am really curious as to why he was burying Peter.- I like the deputy and her boyfriend? husband? Rusty who's on the other side.
- I like the biracial-lesbian couple and how they contrast/complement each other - the one mom seems rather intense and a tad bossy the other seems a calming influence until the daughter has her seizure. I wonder what the girl and the other kid (MacCalister) have in common
- I like the girl who works at the radio station.
I've not read the book, so I have no idea what's going on or what's going to happen (although I understand the ending differs?). Stephen King adaptations tend to have endings I'm not overly fond of but we'll see. I'm rather glad it's a planned miniseries and not a larger regular series because I'd hate for them to struggle to make stuff up once they've told the original story.
also, hi! :)

I also didn't think that LaPenis would die right in the pilot episode?

so much stuff going on, for example the 2 kids having a seizure and babbling something like...the stars falling down.
also Junior...wow...so creepy!
and they killed the sheriff in the first epi...so didn't see that coming!
looking forward to the next epi!
