Woot!

I watched the show as it aired from the beginning. I honestly didn't anticipate that I'd love it as much as I did, but it's one of my favorites of all time. I love showing the pilot in my classes, and students always seem to respond to it. :)

So excited for the movie, and this will be a great way to get ready!

I watched it from the beginning as well and it also became one of my faves. I've done a few rewatches in the past. It's one of the shows I really like watching again and again.

I'm really excited for the movie too!

I watched Veronica Mars when it was first on and loved it. It's one of my favorite shows and I was really disappointed when it was canceled even though the third season was a little weak, especially compared to the fist two. I think that given time it could have gotten over that hump.

But I'm really glad we're getting a movie. I really didn't think it would ever happen and then the kickstarter happened and I was so thrilled!

I'm not sure how many times I've rewatched this show since it ended. Probably at least three times. I'm happy to be doing it again :)

I actually only watched VM this past summer. I promised my BFF that I'd watch VM if she watched Teen Wolf. Sooo I had to pay up, haha. Marathoned through the whole thing and really wish we'd gotten that FBI fourth season!

I've seen the show before thanks to an LJ community I'm sure nobody but me remembers called neptune_pirates (I hope I'm getting that right, it was back in the day when the iheart communities were absolutely amazing and accepting members, etc, back in the glorious days of LJ I suppose).

I loved the first season, part of the second one and then stopped watching as I thought it was getting really bad but other viewers/fans (I don't consider myself a fan, I'd never read fanfic of the show for example) were way more invested than I was and I felt like I didn't fit anymore. It's funny looking back how much my online experience influenced my experience as a viewer.

I felt really influenced by my online experience as well. Or I should say I can't separate VM from that. Except my haunt was Television without Pity back then! I was on the boards less as the show went on, although part of that was because I started my new graduate program.

You're the only one commenting on the threads. This makes me sadface! Gonna slowly make my way through them, but I'm at work so it'll be really slow.

I screen this episode often, so I've seen it most. By the way, what version is everyone watching? I have the DVDs, which contain the original, but unaired, version with the noir opening. Other versions open on Neptune High.

I liked Veronica and her edge, and I liked Keith, although I'm glad they dialed back his silliness. I can't remember what I thought of Wallace or Weevil; I think I liked the former. I had no interest in Duncan from the start. I HATED Logan with a white hot fiery passion. I could not imagine liking him. :)

The scene near the end on the beach is probably my favorite, and my favorite line is when Wallace calls Veronica a marshmallow. :)

I'm watching the DVD version too. Love the extended opening.

I can't remember if I hated Logan at the beginning or not. I know I thought he was a dick, but he ended up being one of my favorite characters eventually so I'm not sure how I felt in the beginning. I do remember feeling that Duncan was fairly bland in this episode.

Loved Keith, really liked that lawyer guy too...Cliff?

I liked the beginning of Wallace and Veronica's friendship. I like when he calls her a marshmallow too but I also like when he makes 'the outsiders' reference and she tells him "be cool sodapop"

I loved Veronica and her edge, her cynicism and trust issues. I relate to that. I love her strength too. How she was the only one who dared cut Wallace down. How she stood there without flinching when Logan was bashing her car and was still holding the tire iron.

I also liked how she handled Weevil.

The Paris Hilton episode! I remember how annoyed everyone was about it when it aired.

I did not remember that Troy was introduced this soon! Was he working Veronica this whole time? I notice that Logan asks Duncan about Troy since the latter's being nice to Veronica.

First Dick episode! And the start of the revolving journalism teachers!

We also get Wallace beginning to work in the school office and the start of some dicey favor-asking from V.

After the pilot, this is the first case of Veronica helping Weevil out. AND of her erroneously suspecting Logan (and Logan paying her back--flat tire!). I guess you could also say it's the first instance of Weevil and Logan sorta, kinda working together (enemy of my enemy...).

I love when Veronica and Keith work together (as in at the Neptune Grand). So funny.

And Veronica's "office," the bathroom, makes an appearance. :)

Favorite line: Troy: "Flat?" Veronica: "Just as God made me."

I always wondered if Troy was working Veronica the whole time. I remember liking him so much in the beginning because he really seemed nice. Seemed not to care what the others thought. But then we know what happens later. And damn. I like that actor (Aaron Ashmore) so I was kind of sad when his character turned out like he did.

Keith and Veronica working together was really funny.

I noticed too that we get the start of the bathroom/veronica's office in this episode.
That's probably my favorite line as well.

I like when Veronica and Weevil hugged after she got him released from jail. They end up having such a strange friendship over the years, don't they?

Oh and I also really loved the whole camera demo scene in journalism class when Veronica first started and she pulls her own camera out of her bag.

This is actually a great early first season episode. It wasn't a favorite, but rewatching it, it reminded me how great this show could use the weekly cases to echo the season-long mysteries thematically (Veronica wondering about her mom; Justin searching for his dad).

I do think I was always surprised and impressed by the fact that the case involved a transgender character. I'm pretty sure I didn't see the resolution to the mystery coming. And hey, Melissa Leo!

I always wondered if I would have liked Duncan more if someone else played him. I just never connected with or liked him, which in turn made Veronica's residual feelings for him weird for me to take in. Like really, that guy?

Logan is by turns a concerned and douche-y friend this episode. I'm always struck by his immaturity when Duncan hurts himself after that stunt. Sometimes I think people conveniently forget that Logan IS a jerk sometimes.

Hey, Ms. James! Bachelorette #1 for Keith. And Wallace and Keith meet for the first time. :)

You know, I used to like Jake Kane, actually. I don't even know why. Celeste isn't that bad this episode. I think because Jake was nice to Veronica I liked him better.

I never forget that Logan is sometimes a jerk. To be honest given Logan's background I'm surprised he's not more of a jerk.

I really like how the case evolved. How the kid really thought his dad was dead and just wanted to spend time with Veronica but then it turned out that his dad wasn't dead, that his mother had lied to him all these years. I liked that twist and I really liked that it involved a transgender character. I remember being very surprised about it the first time I watched.

I was annoyed how Jake and Celeste were treating Duncan in this episode. I feel that Jake sometimes has his moments but I hated how they kept badgering Duncan about his future and didn't really spend any time really trying to see what was actually going on with their son.

Sometimes I kind of like Duncan but mostly he's kind of flat. I'm not sure if it was the actor or the character.

Narrative convenience, of course, makes things very neat there with Veronica revealing she's found out Justin's dad is dead JUST as they learn he might not be! Reminds me of the situation with Logan and his mom later on in the season.

To be fair, Celeste was trying to get Jake to relax on the whole "get involved" thing. It's been a year since Lilly died, and I don't blame them for trying to get him past it in their own ways. Plus, don't forget they think he murdered their daughter.

I know Celeste was trying to get Jake to relax with the whole thing and I understand Jake is trying to help. I just have this weird thing about fictional parents that try to control and direct without actually trying to understand their child. What if Duncan really wanted to be a life coach or something else equally unacceptable to his father?

I hated that he scoffed at the suggestion even though I thought it was crazy and out of the blue too. What if he had wanted to be an artist or a writer? How would his parents react to that?

I know they think he murdered their daughter but in a way that's worse to me. It's like Jake feels that if Duncan doesn't live up to his expectations and make something out of his life then he put an innocent man in jail for nothing.

And I think the cynical part of me feels that Celeste was only trying to get Jake to relax about the whole thing because she's afraid that pushing Duncan too much could make him flip out and kill someone else. (not that he has killed anyone, just that she thinks so).

I don't know, I just tend to be overly critical of TV parents I think. I always have been even now that I'm older and a parent myself and I can see it from both sides. I know I should probably be more sympathetic towards them but there are really only a few occasions that I can bring myself not to hate them.

I mean, I'm not the hugest fan of the Kanes or anything. I'm just saying I understand that they'd want to see him be an active teenager a year out from their daughter's death. I don't believe it's necessarily about fulfilling expectations. And to be honest, fearing that pushing him too far, that he might "snap" again, is actually a valid concern for them at the time. On the other hand, the show also goes to show that Duncan, for Celeste especially, is the favored child, and they want him to go on with his life after Lilly's death (as you note, given the cost of that life in particular).

Huh, checking the internet it does seem you are right and that it was Celeste suggesting they get a life coach for Duncan. Weird I've seen this episode so many times...I'm thinking the closed captioning isn't completely accurate at that point then. I'm hard of hearing and I can mostly hear a show if it's loud enough and I'm wearing headphones but I still miss stuff and if I have access to captions I use them but sometimes they are not exact or clear.

That does change things a bit. I think part of my issue with them in a lot of ways is that I am extremely introverted and never dealt well with suggestions that I get more involved with things at school, or be more social or find something practical to do with my future. It created a lot of anxiety in me that no one noticed or considered valid.

So I think I project a lot of that there when in actuality Duncan isn't really introverted and was a pretty active teen before Lilly's death from what we've seen. I don't know, I guess the Kanes just rub me the wrong way in a lot ways. Even if I can see their side sometimes I can't bring myself to like them.

I'm pretty introverted, too, but I never felt very pressured by my parents to do things. I did things my friends were involved in or that I thought I might like. But I think you're right in that Duncan himself wasn't an introvert, and we see that later in the season. It really is a change of behavior for him due to Lilly's death (and, you know, what he thinks about his relation to Veronica).

I really don't like the Kanes for the most part, especially Celeste (admitting, again, that I did like Jake sometimes because he can be nice to Veronica), but I can occasionally see their side of things. :)

I really love this episode.

I like the case that Veronica was handling and how she took it on because of Wallace. I liked how she was doing something for him for a change (not that she didn't charge the girl for it of course). I like how all three of them were conducting the meeting in the bathroom.

Most of what I liked was the flashbacks though. The homecoming from the year before when Lilly was still alive. I liked getting that view of Lilly and seeing how Veronica was back then and Logan too.

But what I really loved was how Logan and Veronica start to connect. When he's putting the video together for Lilly's memorial and she comes by and sees him and he's not completely horrible to her. Then later she brings him the "fun with Lilly" video. Later when it's airing at the memorial dedication and he looks back at Veronica and smiles...I loved that.

I feel that was when we started to see something beyond Logan the jackass.
We also see that the video brought not only Jake to tears but also Weevil.

And I like the bit at the end of the episode where Veronica stepped out of the limo to go skinny dipping.

Yeah, there's a lot that starts to happen character-wise. The first breaking of the ice between Logan and Veronica. A sign that Weevil knew and cared about Lilly. More knowledge about how Logan, Lilly, Veronica, and Duncan functioned as friends: that Lilly maybe recognized Veronica's awesomeness before she did, that Logan thought Veronica was hot. I also think about how Aaron probably beat the crap out of Logan later for getting champagne on his tux. We also see more about the Kane family dynamics (how Lilly is treated versus Duncan).

It is nice to see Veronica do for Wallace for a change AND Wallace gets the girl!

I love all the undercover stuff, all the guises Veronica uses, plus Wallace and Keith (isn't it illegal to impersonate a federal officer? Can Keith do that because he has a PI license?).

Most of all, I love Veronica's "ownage" over those douches at the end.

Though you'd think he wouldn't do that sort of thing considering he was an officer of the law before.

LOVE this episode. It was the first time I saw something more to both Logan and Weevil. I loved all the flashbacks and the tribute video. After the pilot, this is my favorite episode from the first 4.

This is the episode that we find out that Troy isn't the nice guy he seemed to be in the beginning. It made me sad at the time because I really thought he was nice until the end of this episode the first time I saw it.

I loved how she got back at him though and that steroid/gym guy too at the border, that was awesome.
We also have Weevil and Veronica working together again for a bit which was nice.

I thought the stuff with her dad and mom was sad though. Her finding out that there was more to her mom's departure than it seemed in the beginning at the same time her father is starting to date. Keith breaking up with his new girlfriend for Veronica...sad. And then she missed her mom's phone call there at the end too.

We got some Logan scenes, but there wasn't any Duncan stuff was there? I didn't miss him.

I was trying to remember if I had any inkling that Troy was a douche, but I think this early in the show, I doubt I suspected. When she initially confronts him about his past, I imagine I bought his reason for not telling her and was surprised to see him again at the end. But boy was I happy when she outsmarted him.

It was intriguing to learn that Veronica was being threatened, plus there's also the flashback that shows Lianne's dismay when she learns Veronica's "new guy" is Duncan. It seems to obvious now, but of course then it wasn't.

I love Logan's bits, especially when Veronica, for the second time this season, falsely accuses him, and he says, "Wow. You really suck at this Nancy Drew stuff." Then he proceeds to walk between her and Troy as he leaves.

Keith and Veronica definitely have quite a father-daughter relationship. She looks up Ms. James's background, he looks up Troy's and gives her the choice of whether or not to look, and of course she does. The fact that it pays off is probably part of the reason she continues to struggle with trust in the future.

I really liked this episode for so many reason. The major one was what we learn about Logan. First we see him having to deal with his father's fan's in the morning while in his pjs then we see him organizing that horrible homeless guy fighting thing. But because of that we also see that his father abuses him. Has obviously been doing it for a while and his mother just sits by and drinks while it goes on.

Then there is the student election and the way we see the unbalanced nature of the school between the rich and poor. I remember being really disappointed that Wanda turned out to be a not very nice person. I liked the flashback that showed Duncan wasn't the same kind of dick as his friends and when he finally won for real I thought his solution to the pirate points issue was even better than totally doing away with them.

And Jane Lynch is in this episode which is so cool!

I find it interesting that both Duncan's father and Veronica give him very similar speeches and it seems to be the one that Veronica gives him that really gets through to him.

We also make more progress in the Lily Kane murder case and see that it appears that evidence was planted. In a very sloppy way too since it was done after the initial crime scene photos were taken.

This show does appear to be hard on mothers overall, but I do think Lynn's behavior is up for interpretation. She drinks a lot during that scene when Logan's being punished, but it doesn't necessarily mean she's "just sitting by," as if she doesn't care about Logan. My view of her is that she's as much a victim of Aaron as Logan is. She seems to put on a happy front, hosting parties, she drinks, but in the end she kills herself. Yet Logan clearly loves her and has felt loved by her. He's angry and disgusted with his father after her death.

I didn't actually mean it to sound that I thought she didn't care. I think I meant to show that she knows this is going on and it has been for a while and she feels helpless to do anything about it. I probably should have gone into it more. I actually don't hate her at all. I feel really bad for her. I see her as a victim too.

I suspect she may have even tried to interfere when Logan was younger but it probably only made it worse. And yes, she could have left but I'm not sure how easy it would have been or if she would have been able to make enough people believe her. I think that he probably told her or she believed that if she did try to leave that he would fight for custody of Logan and may have even been able to pull it off with his money and fame.

Given what he gets away with later (more or less) I think he could have pulled it off. Made her seem crazy and kept Logan and continued to abuse him.
I think maybe that's one of the reasons she kills herself because she feels/knows that she is helpless to do anything about any of this and that the only way out was death.

I probably should have worded it as she sits by instead of adding the "just" because I actually meant it more as an observation. Though I think I may have judged her more harshly the first time I watched this episode before I knew everything that came after and how bad Aaron really was.

Not that there appear to be folks not familiar with the show participating, but...

This is one of my favorite episodes of the season. I think it shows that Veronica judges people by their behavior, not their status. She can be led astray, so to speak, but in the end, she's not anti-09er for the sake of it or simply out of revenge. She treats people fairly or equally, be it nicely, suspiciously, or harshly.

At this point in the series, I'm pretty sure I was digging Logan and may already have been shipping Logan/Veronica. This is the third time Veronica falsely accuses him, and I love their little exchange where Veronica says the critics were just beginning to have some doubts, implying that Logan might be all right after all, and Logan earnestly replies that he doesn't have time to be responsible for everything going wrong in her life.

At the same time, the bum fights are one of the worst things we see Logan do in the series. Only when the man at the gas station asks Logan if he found another guy willing to make an ass out of himself for money and Logan makes the connection to his father does Logan seem to understand how wrong it was. Seeing Logan's terror with his father earlier when he's grabbed and then the way he STILL decides to get back at him by saying Aaron is donating money to the shelter, knowing he'll be beaten later--it's a defining characteristic of Logan's, I think, that defiance and perhaps self-destructiveness. You see it in the pilot too (and honestly in his relationship with Lilly and Veronica).

And we learn about Duncan as well; the scene where he expands Pirate Points was definitely one where I finally liked him. I do think it's interesting to note that in the flashback, when that non-09er kid sits down, neither Logan nor Lilly have a problem with it either. Dick is the one who moves the kid's stuff. But, yes, Duncan is the one who defends him.

We get another Lilly/Weevil hint, this time from Wanda.

We get two ~villains: Aaron and Madison Sinclair, Bitch Extraordinaire!

And we get Jane Lynch!

I always find the case that Veronica is working on during the episode really sad. I find it interesting how it begins at the end then switched back to one week earlier. I also find it interesting how the beginning always makes me think this ends worse than it actually does.

I didn't trust Andre the boyfriend either most of the episode just like Veronica but it ends up he's really not a bad guy. He's kind of grumpy but some of that was when Veronica had broken into his apartment and to be honest he reacted way better than I would have.

We also have the whole thing where Veronica learns that her mother dated Jake Kane in high school and then we find out that Andre is fine with not being his girlfriend's baby's father and how Veronica finds that so strange and her father doesn't and then you see that maybe she starts to suspect something though it isn't verbalized yet here. But this is where you start to wonder if Keith really is Veronica's biological father.
What I don't get is why Veronica's mom didn't get a paternity test done as soon as Veronica started dating Duncan just in case. I know it's a sensitive issue but I think that would be the first thing she should have done when they started dating. If it turned out that Keith was her father (which we know he is) then she wouldn't have even had to say anything.

Okay what I do love about this episode is Weevil and Logan kind of bonding and working together after being sent to detention together. And Logan sticking up for him and getting back in school. That was cool. Of course we also get it straight from Weevil that something went on between him and Lilly or at least he had told his friends it had but he was defensive about it and then the tattoo with her name and the now obvious lie he told Logan about it being his sister's name.

And Weevil coming to help Veronica again was fun too.

That's a good questions re: why Lianne didn't get a paternity test. I'm not sure I thought about that before. Every idea I come up with doesn't make sense. Is there something later on with Lianne trying to blackmail Jake and that's part of why Clarence Wiedman is threatening Veronica? I honestly can't remember.

First of all: Jessica Chastain!

This is mostly a forgettable episode for me, at least the A plot anyway. It IS memorable for the Logan and Weevil shenanigans (which I definitely recall making me ship Logan/Weevil and also show that Jason Dohring has chemistry with pretty much everyone). And for revelations concerning Veronica's paternity and for the almost certain confirmation that Lilly and Weevil had a thing.

This episode introduces both Meg and Mac. I loved Mac. She's one of my favorites on this show.
I liked Meg too. It was nice that she was nice to Veronica and all that.

We get a scene with Cliff who I also really like.
We get Veronica trying and succeeding on getting into visit Abel Koontz who does seem a little crazy. Though he doesn't like when Veronica brings up the evidence contradictions.
But he knows who she is and he voices the doubt in her paternity out loud.
Before this we get hints and suspicions but Abel outright questions it.

There't the thing with Wallace and his mom's tenant. So we meet his mom who is pro Kane because he works for the company. Later Keith wins her over though when he gets rid of the tenant when the police won't help.

And then of course we have the purity test craziness. In a lot of ways this episode seems to be about reputation. The Mars family reputation. Reputation based on a sex quiz, that sort of thing.

I enjoyed it. A lot of that was because of the introduction of Mac. And now I feel that I need a Mac icon ;)

Yet another favorite from this season and from the series. Meg AND Mac. Mac is probably my favorite character after Veronica and Logan. She's the Q to Veronica's Bond. :)

Though this episode is great, it makes me so angry to watch it because of the awful double standard it highlights, that a guy should score low on the purity test, but when a girl does she's a slut. And the girls fall victim to in two ways, from the guys and from each other. Argh!

Loved the beginnings of Alicia/Keith (bachelorette #2!) and the fact that Keith had no problems with Wallace staying over. :)

Meg's line about Veronica maybe not needing to always get even and having friends is a standout. Mostly I kept thinking about Meg and her sister, Lizzie, and what we later learn about their parents. :/

There are a lot of abusive parents in the show come to think of it, aren't there? And reference to abusive parents (didn't Sheriff Lamb indicate that he had been when he had to go deal with Meg's parents?). A variety of abusiveness. Interesting. This is just an observation. I've had this open for a bit to comment but now I'm tired and probably not very coherent sorry. Oh and I love Mac too!

Yes. I'd always hoped they'd do more with that Lamb storyline, but I think Lamb was really only meant as a foil, so that was the extent of his family backstory being hinted at before, you know.

There ARE a lot of abusive and/or neglectful parents, for sure. In part I think it's the genre (noir) translated to that setting, where the main characters are teenagers.

I liked this episode but I remember it made me sad too. The case itself mostly.

The mooncalf collective, while kind of goofy was sweet and harmless. Casey was a better person because of them and his parents were asses. They didn’t care about his grandmother, they only cared about the money. They had him taken against his will and brainwashed/deprogramed and he was legally an adult. That really annoyed me.

I did like how the episode brought up the moral issues of being a private investigator. And I’m glad in the end Keith did the right thing.

There was also the contrast between rich in poor here on a personal level. Keith and Veronica living in a crappy apartment with an iffy water system. And Casey about to inherit 80 million dollars. Which just sounds insane.

Earlier in the episode Veronica has to pull over after her trip to visit Abel Koontz and throw up at the thought that Duncan could be her brother. She also tracks down her stalker who happens to be Clarence Wiedman and Head of Security over at Kane’s business.

Veronica sends off her blood and her dad’s (that she lied to get) to do a paternity test. But in the end shreds the results. Which I can on one hand understand and on the other hand it drives me crazy. Not because of Jake or potential money but because of Duncan and the fact she dated him and what if they wanted to date again, isn’t it best to know?

But I get the gesture and I get why she didn’t want to know just then. She didn’t want to think of Keith as anything but her father. While they argued in this episode a few times, he’s still a great dad and she doesn’t want to loose that I think. And while she wouldn’t really but the idea would be there if he wasn't really her biological father.

I think at this point in the show, Veronica doesn't have much hope that she and Duncan will get back together. In this episode she's also so focused on revenge against Jake (given her present thinking about the surveillance and her parentage) that that's the chief motivator. But in the end, as she says, Keith's really her dad either way.

This episode reminds me of "The Girl Next Door" in that the central case is okay, but felt mostly there to make a point or parallel about what's going on in the larger mysteries. There's the contrast between Veronica's home life, where the hot water is problematic, and what would happen if she were in Casey's shoes with all that money? Yet Casey's giving all that up to be in the Collective. Will Veronica (should it turn out she's Jake Kane's daughter)? Keith's in major Good Dad Mode, giving Veronica a water bed she used to want, getting angry when she disobeys him and putting her safety at risk, and listening to Veronica and finding out that Rain, the foster/runaway, was better off at the Collective. They would have made $5k (and solved the hot water problems) had Keith simply gotten the Collective in trouble.

We also see Veronica being shunned at school versus being accepted easily at the Collective.

I really love this episode. It’s a Christmas episode but not very happy, yet it’s a great episode. There are two cases and they both involve the Echolls home.

I like the transition between the opening scene with Veronica and her dad trimming the tree to the poker game; using the music from the Christmas special playing on the TV.

I loved Logan and Duncan in matching boxers. I’ve got to wonder if maybe Lilly gave them both the same gift one year or something.

I liked how the story of the poker game was told from different points of view as Veronica investigated.

At the same time Keith is investigating Aaron’s potential stalker for Lynn. Here we see a better view of both Lynn and Aaron. Lynn is nice to Keith and Keith seems to like her. Aaron still seems sort of nice except for the rampant cheating. Three women at one party? With is wife at the same party? Seriously?

Because of the poker game gone bad we have Logan and Duncan on the outs.
Logan: “What are we breaking up now?”
I loved that. What was also interesting about that was how Duncan was saying Logan had changed. Indicating that Logan wasn’t as much of an ass before Lilly died.

I really liked the poker game case. Logan called Veronica “my friend” when arranging for her to meet with Connor, and them both making faces about it. Him being actually helpful because he liked the idea of sending her off to bug someone else.

Logan to Veronica: “Annoy tiny blond one, annoy like the wind” That’s one of my favorite lines I think. That and When Logan says to Weevil: “If you’re asking me to the prom again, the answer is still no.”

Conner actually seemed pretty nice and I liked how he was calling Logan out on his racist remarks.

I also liked Duncan and Weevil giving Logan crap about not tipping well and fixing it.

And Veronica solves the crime and makes them let her play for the answer. It’s Sean who is not actually rich but son of the help. I love how Veronica called Duncan out on his faking being drunk because of how well she knew him.

It also looked like Logan really enjoyed watching her solve the case especially once it was clear she wasn’t accusing him. He smiled when she was dealing the cards like a pro.

Also in this episode we have Veronica confronting Jake Kane about being followed and he’s clueless but he then fights with his wife, so he obviously knows who did it. Keith sees them talking through the glass.

Then the card game breaks for food and goes out to the party where we have Aaron stabbed by yet another ex-lover. Who he doesn’t even seem to remember. Nice.

We also see Veronica and her dad’s simple Christmas tree set up and we get the contrast of the Echolls’ super extravagant party.

I also wanted to add that I'm not sure if I suspected Aaron at all at this point. We see that not only does he beat his son, he cheats on his wife. A lot. And he's dismissive about it, like it's no big deal.
I don't think I suspected him or if I did I then ruled him out later on for a while.
I don't think I thought it was him with this episode though.

It didn't occur to me either at this point yet, and I have no idea why not, looking back! There was just so much going on, and it seemed like it would be one of the kids or have something to do with the Kanes?

Yeah, I think I was pretty sure it had to do with one of the Kanes. Probably because they looked super guilty because they were in a way. They were guilty of covering it up. And by doing that it made them look super guilty because nothing added up.

I do remember thinking that Veronica was right when she found the video camera at Logan's later on and she assumed Logan was guilty. They made it look really likely that it could be him at that point.

Logan definitely looked guilty at that point, but I might have been on the Aaron train at that point. I can't remember! I know I sure I hoped it wasn't Logan!

I (re)-observed a lot of the same elements, and this is another favorite of mine. The missing poker money mystery was excellently done, and I never guessed the ending (honestly, I usually didn't guess the outcome of the weekly cases). I thought the Duncan journal thing was a lame excuse for Veronica to get involved (honestly, a boy keeping a journal?), but that's a small complaint.

For real, what WAS up with the matching boxers? lol

Weevil and Logan scenes are always a treat. The last time we saw them together was when Logan helped get Weevil un-expelled after the detention hijinks, and Logan had learned that Lilly and Weevil likely had a thing. This time, I thought it was interesting that Weevil seemed to feel a bit bad for Logan when everyone (including him) was ogling his mom.

I agree that Keith really seemed to like Lynn. I'm wondering how much he knows about Logan's treatment of her. Not a lot, I'm guessing.

I'm not sure if Jake's confronting Celeste confirms that he knows who did it (well, Veronica knows it's Clarence Wiedman). I think he has his suspicions, like Veronica. It doesn't mean he's right. Right?

Well I think Jake confronting Celeste, especially in public means he assumes she's behind it. But no, it doesn't mean he's right. I think she's probably the only one he can think of who would do it that Clarence would take orders from.

I'm kind of meh about the main case with the E-string strangler, though it was fun to see Lamb and Keith work together. Well sort of work together. More like work alongside each other I guess.

The bit with Veronica digging up dirt for her classmates' parents for cash was kind of fun. For me the most important parts of this episode were the bits about Mac and her "switched at birth" situation. It was so sad. Yeah it reflects Veronica's dubious paternity but most of all it's just truly heartbreaking. I feel so much for Mac and both sets of parents in this.

And then there's Leo! I loved Leo. Poor Leo. Veronica totally used him and he was so sweet. He took it well too.

And then we get the information that it seems that Clarence W. left the anonymous tip call about Abel Koontz. Which again makes the Kanes look very guilty.

Pretty much MTE. Except with extra horror and loathing for Madison. ;) AND super special excitement at seeing a pre-Breaking Bad Aaron Paul as their temporary suspect for the E-string Strangler.

Weevil's fake tirade at the sheriff's office to distract Leo was pretty funny, I thought. And I loved how Mac said she and Veronica would rule the universe with the website business. It's true. :)

I definitely teared up when Mac meets her bio-sister and mom.

Ugh. I really loathe Madison as well but I think I kind of try to ignore her. She's just so horrible. And the parents who raised her don't seem bad nor do the ones that are her bio parents. So I have no idea what is going on there!

This episode really sets up Weevil and Duncan as possible suspects in Lilly's murder. I think it also hints that maybe Logan could be capable (like when he threatens to kill his dad) but at the same time I think he stint at the counselor's makes him seem less likely. Where as Duncan with his mysterious illness and medication as well as a three day black out makes him extremely suspicious.

I remember that I felt that how he couldn't remember three days including Lilly's murder was a bad sign. It showed he could have killed her no matter what a nice guy he seemed to be.

But just as the Tritons were a false lead in this episode. The Duncan thing was a false lead for the show. Yet it shows why his parents would have thought it could have been him.

Duncan talks about how he feels Lilly is watching over him and how she's mad he doesn't remember. He doesn't seem to think he could have done it though, interestingly.

We also have Veronica getting arrested (which of course gives her time to unethically listen into counseling sessions) and suspended for three days. We get to see Cliff again!

We also find out why Logan has been so angry at Veronica. Because she ratted him out to Lilly for kissing another girl. They were one of those on again off again couples we also learn. And Logan feels that if they had been on at the time she wouldn't have been alone and killed (and he's probably right considering who she was killed by). He blames Veronica "she was my friend too" and himself and Lilly and it's so complex but I didn't get any vibe that he could have done it in this episode really. Except for that thing with his dad, showing maybe he was capable of killing but I didn't think he would have killed Lilly. I also didn't think Weevil did either. But this did give us confirmation that he did have a thing with Lilly and even even wrote her letter after they ended.

I think this episode was mostly concentrating on shedding doubt on Duncan.

And we see Aaron being horrible to both Logan and his wife. Threatening her that she'd have nothing if she tried to divorce him. And then Logan threatened him in protection of his mom and I wonder if at that moment when Logan threatened to kill Aaron if she saw that maybe her son was becoming like his father.

And then she takes some pills and drives away and the last we see is her car on the bridge.

Oh the Karaoke thing was fun. And I liked how Veronica solved the case against her and Lamb had to read "Veronica Mars is smarter than me" out loud. Too awesome.

Things with the Lilly Kane murder seem to be really starting to heat up at this point I think. Which makes sense with only ten more episodes to go until the end of the season.

It definitely seemed like suspicion!time all around with Duncan, Weevil, and Logan, while all the while the real killer is right in front of our noses!

I forgot that it was Lynn responsible for the photos. I do feel bad for Logan and angry that her actions meant he had to deal with that in school, though she says all the women in town know anyway. It would have been known at a certain level, I suppose.

I don't think Lynn's thinking Logan's turning into his dad, more like it's a common situation that she's tired of ("I cannot take this anymore."). But maybe I'm projecting since I know the difference between Logan and Aaron.

It was great getting to hear Kristen Bell sing, though I remember hating the weird effects they added. Totally unnecessary.

Maybe Lynn wasn't worried about Logan turning into his dad, or something like him. But we do find out later that Aaron's dad beat him and his mother right? And Aaron thinks he somehow okay because he doesn't believe in hitting women. Unless he's trying to kill them I guess. Then, it's okay.

The whole cycle of abuse thing. Which does seem to come frequently in this show. I don't think that Logan is turning into his dad but he does have a temper, there is no denying that.

And Aaron's daughter later got into an abusive relationship and dismissed the seriousness of it despite the fact that she never even believed Logan's allegations that their dad abused him.

So I think, that yes she's fed up and can't take it anymore but I think there is a possibility of that fear of what Logan is going to end up like and feeling like she has not control over the matter or control over anything in her life.

I think maybe leaking those photos to the press gave her a sense of control as well as the joy of revenge even though it sucked for Logan.

Though it did put a Logan in a situation where everyone was talking about him and his family in a negative way. Paralleling what Veronica has been going through ever since Lilly's murder, in a way.

The first (?) of many buggings Veronica performs, this time the stapler in Ms. James's office. So smooth and devious!

And Veronica's fake IDs finally (help) get her in trouble.

I honestly forgot how this episode played out in terms of the Tritons stuff. It was reminding me of the final arc in season 3.

There's some great, fun Wallace stuff this episode!

On a surface level note, I love Veronica's sweatshirt this episode. :)

In this episode we meet the girl that Logan kissed at the party. The one that split them up before Lilly died. Yolanda Hamilton.

I liked this case because we got another smart kid (Bryce Hamilton) outwitted everyone (except for Veronica). He didn’t hurt anyone, and he did prove to his dad that he wasn’t soft. And that brains could a greater strength than his dad had ever imagined.

It was nice that Yolanda was never in danger at all and had run off to elope with the son of her father’s nemesis (and former lawyer). Very star-crossed lovers. I was sad that her dad wouldn’t give her his blessing but at the same time while he may not have been the greatest parent, he is far down on the list of Neptune’s crappy parents.

I also like that we see Veronica back when she was popular kind of being a bitch to Yolanda after the kissing incident because she caved to peer pressure. It was nice to see her not being perfect and nice that she got the chance to apologize to Yolanda before the episode was done.

The other important thing going on in this episode is the start of Logan’s down spiral. His mother is dead but he doesn’t believe it. He thinks she got away somehow because of a left behind lighter and the absence of a body. I remember thinking he could have been right at the time and how nice that would have been. I really feel bad for Lynn. I even felt bad for Aaron the first time I saw this episode. I thought that him giving up his career showed that maybe he wasn’t such a bad guy after all. Now it seems this was to probably throw us off the track a little as well as show him as a complicated character. Very complicated.
Logan coming to Veronica’s door late at night, asking for help. So desperate and sad. So depressing and I wanted him to be right. I wanted his mother to be alive.
Logan: “I want you to find my mother”. How could Veronica refuse that sadness and desperation even with all their issues.

I also loved earlier in the episode when Veronica says “We used to be friends…a long time ago” when asked about Yolanda and then it went to the title song. That was cool. How long were they waiting to be able to do that, I wonder?

It's funny; though this isn't a favorite episode, it's one of the few where I always remember the outcome of the case. And there are some great scenes.

This one picks up about a week after Lynn's death, and I forgot that Lynn left her suicide note on her Blackberry. Jeeze. No handwriting to check anyway. I like how Wallace asks about Logan and says he feels sorry for him. And Veronica says Logan's been absent since her death, but they're "not exactly phone buddies." Ooh, they will be. I'm always a bit amused that this entire storyline with Lynn's death was constructed to bring Veronica and Logan together, and it works like a charm.

For me, the parallel here is between Aaron and his family and Bone Hamilton and his. Both men put outward appearances and ego before their families. Aaron's "quitting acting," in my mind, is just another ego trip, showing the world what a great dad he is. And Logan will see right through him.

Ah, teen girldom. Lilly says Logan's jealousy is cloying, while Yolanda says she likes jealousy on a man. Lilly says she can have him, but when Yolanda sort of does, it's another story. Veronica's put in that horribly awkward position of telling her best friend what she saw or keeping mum for the sake of her new friend. And Lilly puts her in yet another awkward position, pretty much forcing her to choose to be "in or out." This both illustrates the incident Logan mentioned in his school counselor session, but it also shows that once upon a time Veronica was subject to the same pressures. I'm glad they included the bit where Yolanda says she would have done the same.

How did yo like this one?

This episode picks up right where the previous one left off with Logan on Veronica’s doorstep asking for her help. She agrees to help him.

The main case of the story is one that both Veronica and Keith are working but on opposite sides. A beloved “cool” teacher Mr. Rooks is being accused of seducing a student. The student in question in Carrie Bishop who Veronica neither trusts nor likes. We get a flashback of soon after Duncan dumped Veronica and Carrie is gossiping with another girl and saying something about Duncan really being crazy and giving examples that may not but totally false, though probably isn’t the exact truth either.

Veronica is set to prove her teacher innocent and her father is doing the opposite. Of course they are both wrong, which Veronica finally figures out. Her former favorite teacher is not innocent but Carrie is not the victim, it’s another girl who doesn’t want the man to go to jail for statuary rape but wants him to pay somehow. She’s pregnant and he was a total dick about it. Veronica gets him fired at the end (or forced to resign) and all is cool.

Though her dad’s little joke of having ink spray out of her when she opened the safe was mean yet funny. She really shouldn’t have been breaking into his safe anyways.

Veronica is a busy little beaver in this episode because not only is she busy with the teacher case and Logan’s case but also she’s busy investigating Duncan’s medical condition, which ends up being type 4 epilepsy or something. I’m pretty sure stealing medical records is neither legal or ethical but it’s for a good cause, right? She also grabs Abel Koontz’s file because he shares a doctor with Duncan Kane.

We see poor sweet Leo again and Veronica explains why she used him and says she fell for him after. He’s so sweet. Poor thing. I loved Leo. I didn’t think they were right together but he was so sweet.

We get some Weevil fun in this one too. And awesome lines like this. Veronica to Weevil: “So, you got a trophy for a rim job?”
Weevil also helps out with the case with Logan’s mom and finds a freshman who’s been bragging about getting the jump on video, which he appears to have done. Weevil makes sure the kid won’t leak it and Logan is devastated by this proof his mother is dead yet minutes later Veronica gets a message that someone used Lynn’s credit card and Logan is given hope once again.

At the end Veronica visits Abel Koontz again just to show him she has his medical file and knows he’s dying and that he knew when he confessed. His face falls and we finally get the answer to the question: Why would Abel Koontz confess to a murder he didn’t commit?
This is another episode that makes the Kanes, especially Duncan guilty of Lilly’s murder. Though it makes it look like if Duncan did do it, it wasn’t intentional.

I like this episode for a few reasons, one being that Logan and Veronica grow closer as she works to determine whether or not Lynn is really dead. There's a great scene in the Mars office where she learns Logan intends to pay her, and he says they're not swapping friendship bracelets. "I'll stop braiding." But it's apparent trust is evident and being rebuilt. Even when Logan makes a VD joke, it's kind of a softball, and Veronica doesn't take the bait. And who can resist emo!Logan hugging himself? Certainly not Veronica, who knows what it's like to miss her mom, and tells Logan she'd do the same in his shoes. Even Weevil throws some sympathy Logan's way.

The other reason I like this episode is that we see what happens (or what could happen) when Veronica's awesome skills are put to use for the wrong person. We're reminded that Veronica can still be naive and prejudiced (in thinking a good teacher can't be a creep in his personal life, and that someone who's been awful in her personal life can't also do a good deed). And that Veronica, a victim of slut shaming, will still slut shame another girl (Carrie, to whom she later apologizes).

I also saw the case with an inappropriate, shady older guy/younger girl relationship as foreshadowing for the Aaron/Lilly reveal later.

Oh, Leo. He is a sweetie, but I don't think I ever saw that going anywhere.

Veronica continues to be very busy. She’s working the “Tom Cruz” case for her dad, Meg’s secret admirer case and Logan’s case still. It’s a wonder she passed high school with all this extra stuff she was spending her time on.

The business case was depressing. With it turning out to be the Russian mob looking for someone who was in witness protection.

Logan’s case about his mom is wrapped up in a most depressing manner as well. We do finally meet his sister Trina (Allison Hannigan!!!) though. She’s was using Lynn’s card and the scene where Logan breaks down in Veronica’s arms in the middle of the hotel lobby was just so fucking heartbreaking. If I wasn’t already team Logan, this would have totally clinched it for me. Earlier in the episode when he thanks her for helping him in the hall at school and touches her arm was sweet too. But this with him falling apart on her and letting her hold him was just so heartbreaking. That he allowed himself to be that vulnerable with her was beautiful to me. I hurt for him so bad in this episode.

A few moment before that we have Trina talk about his stories of their dad and “cigarette burns and broken noses…” as if Logan’s been lying and dramatic about it growing up and Veronica overhears and the look on her face was heartbreaking too. She starts to see Logan differently in this episode in a big way.

We also get Meg this episode and it ends up being the start of her relationship with Duncan.

Oh and when Veronica calls Logan and gets his voice mail…Is this the first of the inspirational messages of his we hear? I can’t remember, but they are just so awesome. My love for Logan really grew in this episode.

Poor Wallace. I bet the most frequent phrase he hears from Veronica is “can you do something for me?”

We also get Leo and a kiss between Leo and Veronica! I loved Leo. He’s so sweet. So wrong for Veronica but so sweet. And then Veronica finally finds out it’s been her mom calling and hanging up on her so she drives out to the pay phone and finds her in the bar but it seems she’s not the only one to find her. Clarence W. is back!

Ah, these are some of my favorite episodes, what with all the LoVe building. Their little encounter in the hall is adorable. :)

I noticed this time around that Duncan seemed not too concerned when he jokes that he thinks he saw his best friend asking Veronica to the dance. But when she sees her with Leo later, that gets more of a reaction.

Oh, the things Wallace does for Veronica. Jock-sniffer!

I think the florist may be one of my favorite one-time characters ever. So funny.

I like the idea that, for once, Veronica would like to bring people together rather than break them up. Too bad it doesn't work out.

The fact that Veronica's PI skills help her find someone in witness protection goes to show the mad skillz she's got.

Not one of my favorite episodes, though I don’t hate it or anything. Maybe it’s the lack of Logan that makes me not like it as much. We did get a little nice bit with Weevil though. First he helps Veronica and then she accuses him of committing the crime. Again.

What’s fun is that we have the vice principle asking for Veronica’s help. He shows that he is finally recognizing her usefulness and she.

We have the growing relationship between Meg and Duncan, which is cute but depressing because we know that the only reason he’s not still with Veronica is because he thinks she’s his sister.

I do love the Wallace and Veronica bits. Her being the one to make his spirit boxes even though she’s not into all that school spirit stuff she knows it’s important to her best friend. Very sweet. Of course then she has him unknowingly bug Clarence’s office. Now Clarence deserved it since he bugged her first, but it sucks that she got Wallace involved and it bites them all in the ass later.

We get the story of Veronica’s mom in bits and pieces of flashbacks and it annoyed me mostly because I know how this shit ends and it pisses me off. Veronica putting all her hard earned and saved money to put her mom in rehab. I understand whey Veronica did it. She wanted her mother back. But still. She shouldn’t have done it. What a waste.

We find out that Veronica’s mom was with Jake Kane at the supposed time of Lilly’s murder.

It seems that her mom didn’t have a paternity test done earlier why? So she could use it as a thread? Because she didn’t want to know? She used it as a threat to Jake that night but why didn’t she do it earlier? Did Keith not want to know?
At the end we find out that Abel Koontz has a daughter and the pay off money seems to be going to her.

I loved how Veronica not only figured out that Clarence Wiedman had bugged her, but thought to use the bug to her advantage to learn about Abel Koontz's daughter.

Lots of stuff with Veronica's friendships here: Wallace is making friends via the basketball team, while Meg is being super-nice given her relationship with Duncan. I like how she says that thing about making their own circle, and Veronica takes that offered branch.

Favorite line: (kid at Pan High) "They got our goat!" lol

This episode is one that shows how much Veronica is balancing between helping her dad at work, doing her own side jobs, investigating Lilly's murder and keeping up her GPA. It's a wonder she gets any sleep.

I really loved when Veronica ripped up Logan's check saying that his mom was always nice to her. It was sweet and I think it helped set up the next episode as well. Made it all seem like it was flowing naturally rather than an out of the blue thing.

Of course Logan finds out how Veronica's been continuing the murder investigation and he gives her some more info on Duncan that makes him look bad. As does her father with the whole soccer uniform in the laundry tidbit. Duncan is looking really good for the murder now. Especially with the evidence (not in hand sadly but still found out) that the Kane's paid off Abel Koontz to confess.

I loved the Vinnie bits in this too. He was such a fun character.

Oh and Hamilton Cho. I liked him. I liked that he was working class like Veronica and that he took the loss so well.

One of my favorite episodes because of the Logan and Veronica kiss for sure. Of course she starts out the episode kissing Leo. Poor Leo. I always wanted Logan for Veronica but I still felt bad for Leo.

And on the other dating scene it comes to light that Keith and Wallace's mom are dating. Which seems to bother Wallace more than Veronica but it does bother both of them.

I thought the case was kind of interesting too and that poor journalism teacher that lasted for such a short time. I loved how she encouraged Veronica to run the story even though you could tell by her face that she knew it would be the end of her job.

And of course we have angry Duncan because Logan told him about the files and he gives Veronica a heads up a little late but that leaves him on the phone when the shady undercover FBI guy gets in Veronica's car.

I love protective Logan. And the kiss!!!

But the end of the episode Duncan has taken off with cash, again making him look really bad. Though really I think it's that since he doesn't remember he starts to doubt himself which is even sadder since he didn't do it.

this episode both made Weevil look possibly a little more guilty and gave us another look at Aaron's violent side. It also gave us his own abusive background. And not only does the audience see Aaron beat the crap out of Trina's boyfriend like it was just another day at the Echolls family home but Veronica witnessed it as well.

We also got more Veronica and Logan kissing and Veronica breaks things off with Leo and then asks him for a favor. At least she didn't do it the other way around. Being the sweet guy he is he helped out with the dog situation.

Duncan's still missing and we also see Keith collecting samples for a DNA test to settle things once and for all. I guess seeing the fight between Veronica and Mrs. Kane triggered that.

So at this point it seems kind of up in the air about who may or may not be guilty of Lilly's murder. Duncan and Weevil seem to be on the table at the moment though Keith asks why would the Kane's cover it up if it was Weevil.

Duncan had been looking pretty guilty I guess but they put Weevil up as a possibility again here with him getting arrested for breaking into the Kane home and Lilly's bedroom specifically.

It's weird to think, watching this episode that the mystery of Lilly's murder is going to be wrapped up in two episodes.

Duncan is still gone but everyone is out looking for him. Logan and Veronica seem to be secretly dating until she stands him up at the end. I was always sad about that, when she stood him up. I felt she should have asked him about the whole GBH thing instead of taking that guy's word for it, for one thing. You know? Tad was a total ass. I was glad he got taped to the pole there at the end. Yay Weevil!!! Then again I can understand why she stood him up too. Poor Logan.

Poor Mrs. Fennel with the whole bug thing at work.

Loved the Logan and Veronica making out in the bathroom scene. It's her office, her make out room...It's a wonder anyone else gets to use that bathroom at all.

Aaron giving her the ride home seemed so nice the first time. In retrospect it is so super creepy. He was acting all concerned father when not only did he sleep with his son's girlfriend, he killed her too.

Keith finds Duncan in Cuba!!! We get the return of Duncan and lots of drama to go with it.
I liked the Aaron and Logan stuff with the elder Echolls not knowing his son's allergies or even when his birthday is. Nice.

Veronica finds out what went on at the party that night. Or at least she thinks she does. Though by the end of season two we find out that one of those people was lying in a big way.

Duncan freaks out when he finds out about Logan and Veronica, which doesn't make Meg very happy. It looks like he had one of his episodes, maybe? Of course we did find out earlier in the episode that he ran away without his medication.

One could get whiplash with the on again off again of Veronica and Logan with just this episode alone.

One thing I really loved about this episode was how Logan was at the party with Veronica. How he was kicking Dick out and told everyone if they weren't okay with Veronica that they could leave etc. While Logan has a lot of crappy qualities, he also has a lot of awesome ones too and that scene was a good example of that.

Then Veronica finds the cameras at Logan's and panics. And again Logan is a suspect.

Veronica's Mom is home from rehab and everything is very domestic at the Mars household. Mom and daughter cooking together. Family dinner, very happy. And Keith gets the DNA results from the paternity test but they make us wait for it till closer to the middle of the episode.

Beaver and Dick are hiding something about Logan but promise each other that they won't tell then Beaver goes and tells Veronica. Now I wonder about his motivations for that. At the time I just thought he was a nice guy. I wonder if they had already planned the season two conclusion at this point.

I felt bad for Cassidy. No one calls him by his name. His brother is a dick to him and he seems almost nice for the most part, right?

I felt bad for Wallace's mom with Keith breaking up with her to give it another go with his wife. It doesn't even seem that he wants to at this point except for Veronica's benefit. It's sad.

So, Logan's alibi is shot to hell and he's the one looking guilty now. And Veronica plays him and turns him in, which is pretty harsh. Though I totally understand and relate to her trust issues.

Jake tells Duncan that they believe that Duncan killed his sister. Harsh. This all because of the Newspaper article that was printed with the info that Keith and Veronica had collected.

So here Duncan looks possibly guilty and at the same time if he isn't there's now a reason why the Kanes would cover-up a murder that none of them were responsible for.

Logan was so nice and sweet and understanding of Veronica's hot and cold act. I feel so bad for him. Even more beyond the first viewing because then you know that not only is he being falsely accused but his own father was the one who killed his girlfriend and had been sleeping with her. Which is pretty fucking creepy in my opinion.

I love when Veronica finds out that Keith is her dad. Because when she's signing that, she doens't care. She's already come to terms with the possibility that biologically he might not be but feels that in all the important ways he is her true father. And then when it turns out that he is also biologically her father, it's just a beautiful moment.

I can't help but think part of that is relief that she didn't sleep with her half-brother and that she's not related to the Kanes at all.

Logan gets arrested. I loved his banter with the sheriff. I did feel so bad when he called Veronica for her help and then Lamb tells him that it was her that turned him in.

Veronica sets out to sneak into the Kane home to check Lilly's hiding spot for the letter Logan supposedly wrote. Before she heads out she grabs a bottle of water that her mom's been drinking only it isn't water at all.

No time to deal with that though. Duncan catches her in Lilly's room and isn't happy but changes his tune when he finds out she doesn't believe he did it at all, then he helps her and she finds video tapes and the watch.

By the camera angles and stuff going on we can also tell that they are being watched at least part of the time. The tape reveals that it was Lilly with Aaron and Veronica realizes what happened and what that secret she was talking about wasn't Weevil but Aaron.

She leaves and we have the perfect example of why you should always check your car before you get in. Aaron has hitched a ride and Veronica crashes to try and get away.

Everything happens so fast from the time she finds the tapes until the end with Aaron. I love that he went through a car crash, being beat up by Keith, bit by a dog and then hit by a car. That was awesome and he doesn't get away.

Keith rescues Veronica and is hurt and instead of calling her mom to watch him she calls Wallace's Mom and when she gets home she tells her mom to get out. She knows she's drinking again and didn't even finish rehab. Veronica threw away her college money for nothing. And not only that, when she leaves she steals the reward check from the Kanes. Leaving her daughter again and stealing from her. Nice.

Oh, also loved Duncan's face when she told him she wasn't his sister. And Jake's reaction when he finds out it was Aaron. That was devastating and I liked him at that moment. The sad thing is before he didn't really get to mourn his daughter fully because he was busy trying to protect Duncan.

It must have hurt so bad that he covered up the murder when it wasn't it son at all. That he not only did all that for nothing but he protected the real killer in the process.

Logan is of course in trouble with the PCHers because Weevil thinks he killed Lilly and wants him to pay for it.

That dream of Lilly was so sad and sweet. Like Lilly was getting closure and going away now that the murder was truly solved.

"Don't forget about me Veronica" and then she wakes up and there's a knock on the door and she says "I was hoping it would be you" but we don't see who until season two! Damn cliffhangers ;)

We skip over the summer and pick up just as Veronica's senior year is starting up.
I like how we slowly found out Veronica's relationship status over the episode but I was not only sad that she broke up with Logan but I was also sad that we missed their relationship since most of it happened during the summer and we only get to enjoy the condensed version after it's over.

What I think is interesting is that the answer to the season's big mystery is contained in the opening episode. We see Woody, he talks about little league, there's a definite (if small) spotlight on Dick and Cassidy, we see their new step mom that we find out Logan is banging.

I'm sad about unhappy Meg though, I understand her bitterness. And she inadvertently plays a part in saving Veronica's life by not telling the Veronica was still outside.

I thought the mini mystery within the episode of the drug testing okay. Mostly I think it was just a way to pull Veronica back into the game after spending a summer working a regular kind of job and not doing the PI thing.

I liked how the flash of Lilly that Veronica saw/thought she saw led her to Weevil who she argued with and that led to her not getting back on the bus, saving her life.

I like how this episode shows Veronica trying to have a "normal" life after Lilly's murder is solved, yet she only manages to make that work for a few months because I just don't think she's built that way.

Going off my memory on this (haven't had time to sit and rewatch yet)

But it was super confusing figuring out who she was dating, haha. I was left all WAIT WHAT?

I do remember how it was super confusing to figure out who she was dating the first time I watched it. I've seen it so many times now that I easily remember.

No, but normal is overrated anyways :)
