I finished Bodies. I really liked it, but could never really get into the future stuff. The only thing I didn't like was the very last scene. spoilers for the ending of BodiesWhy was Maplewood in the present? Why put KYAL on one of the buildings? It's a mini-series. There shouldn't be a somewhat open ending/hint that something else was going on/a cliffhanger. They did such a good job of giving all the characters happy endings, even something very hopeful for the queer couple in 1890 *shakeshead*
I liked the structure of the show. Episodes 1-6 are the time loop playing out as "normal" followed by an episode set mostly in 1890 and then the last episode breaks the loop. I feel like the last two episode could have been a bit more fleshed out, but they were fine.
Okay, maybe there is another thing I didn't like...so it all comes down to Mommy Issues? I suppose the whole "Know You Are Loved" makes sense. Still weird.
Nearly done re-watching Lockwood & Co. and for some reason I didn't enjoy it as much. Typically I like re-watching shows. We watched it in German. Maybe the dubbing made it lose a bit of its charm.
Next week Paradise is back for S2, the Scrubs revival starts, and Ghost is back from hiatus. I'm mainly looking forward to Ghosts ;)
Despite your complaints I think you liked Bodies better than I did. I thought the setup was fascinating but it became somewhat less interesting as it went along, even though I just wanted the mystery resolved.
It's airing this week - February 25, with two back to back episodes on ABC. (You obviously don't have cable or broadcast television - because they've been advertising it like crazy for a month now.)
Exclusive: Scrubs is set to premiere with two episodes airing back-to-back on Wednesday, February 25, at 8 p.m. on ABC, and now itโs been revealed that there will be a few additional familiar faces at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Well, I'm in Germany. I also don't have an active Disney+ subscription at the moment, but apparently there isn't even a streaming date yet (only for the UK).
We don't have Hulu in Europe. Hulu shows are on Disney+. For example, Only Murders in the Building gets released on D+ on the same day here. At least in the UK, Scrubs will be released on D+ the day after it airs on ABC. In Germany you typically have a dubbed version released at the same time. That could potentially take a bit longer if they want to get the original cast back for that.
I finished The Leftovers! Great show with an even greater cast. (I particularly enjoyed seeing Christopher Eccleston.) Now I need to find myself another finished HBO show with not too many seasons/episodes.
I'm looking forward to the remaining episodes of Bridgerton S4.
The Wire has about 5 seasons I think. It's probably the best police procedural ever broadcast. And there's Barry. Also Game of Thrones (although that is kind of violent and gory). HBO has a lot of finished television series.
The Wire definitely has five seasons; the fifth is not universally adored. For your consideration for Best Police Procedural Ever, I submit Homicide Life on the Street.
You're correct, Homicide Life on the Street - which was David Simon's original police procedural - is slightly better. But they are also very different animals? In that Homicide Life on the Street was adapted from the non-fiction book of the same name, and focused solely on the Homicide Dept. While the Wire focuses on the City of Baltimore - S1-3 are the Police Department and the Drug Trade and the Mayor's Office (or political infrastructure), S4 is the School System (it's actually brilliant in places), and S5 focuses on the Press (which is kind of weak - odd that since the show-runner was a former journalist). I think just focusing on the Homicide Dept and the day to day grind of that - made Homicide Life on the Street a touch more focused and coherent.
My first fencing coach was also an actor. One day before class started, he was reading a newspaper and drinking a cup of coffee. I thought he was indicating and completely unbelievable. Maybe Wire S5 was weak precisely because of being too close to newspaper journalism and being unable to see it with any objectivity!
Nah, I think it had more to do with the writers being a touch burned out? I vaguely remember listening to the commentary on the DVD's and they lost some of their best villains in the earlier seasons of the series - and the new villains or antagonists weren't as gripping. Also, their story had plot holes, and turned two of the main protagonists into anti-heroes. The news media was fine - but the story was about scamming the news media and how easy it is to scam them. It was pure satire - which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't - satire can be hard to pull off well. They did it better in S4 with the school system and politics. (Note - they were right about the news media - it is alarmingly easy to scam the media. My brother did it on a smaller scale while in college in the early 1990s before the internet - as a conceptual art project.)
We're watching our way through the extended edition of Lord of the Rings, including extras. Other than that, just The Pitt (the thing I was spoiled for has happened, so yay, I'm back to having no clue) and One Spring Night, which is progressing sooo slooowly, but it's worth it for Jung Hae-in's smile. (All the other boyfriends and husbands are The Worst.)
Am an episode behind on Jeopardy, caught up on Colbert and Daily Show wasn't airing last week.
Finished the documentary Naked Ambition, and the shows Four Seasons and Marcella. Enjoyed both of those. I thought Seasons was going to be a miniseries but it didn't end that way, and apparently there will be a second season. It looks like Marcella was finished in S3 given it's been 5 years since its last release.
Hope to finish Bridgerton S4 this week. Still working on S2 of Man on the Inside, am finding the series delightful. Began A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and might also finish it this week. I also have watched the first episodes of SG-1, and ow, is it dated.
Whenever I rewatch Stargate SG-1, I usually skip the first season and pick up with season 2 ๐ There are definitely some episodes that are tough to get through at the beginning. Dated is an accurate description
Bridgerton S4 is split into two sections, part II will be February 29.
Yes, SG-1 doesn't date well. Very few series from that era do? I'm surprised at how well Angel and Buffy stand up - those two date very well, in comparison to oh so many others that aired around the same time.
The only new thing I started watching this past week was The Lincoln Lawyer (season 4). Most weekly things are on hiatus, probably due to the Olympics, so there were slim pickings on that front -- just The Pitt, Will Trent and Starfleet Academy. And Silent Witness. Otherwise, it was a week of sports, sports, sports, and more sports -- Olympics, tennis and as of today, baseball's back!!
What I'm looking forward to most this coming week is the Prime documentary Paul McCartney: Man on the Run, which is available on Feb 27. Also season 2 of Paradise.
Miss Scarlet season 6 wrapped up this past week. It was a good series finale if it doesn't end up getting renewed. In fact, this episode was much better than the others that it almost made me forget how annoying the rest of this season was ๐
I feel a little bad that I didn't enjoy the most recent Starfleet Academy episodes compared to how much I loved the first five episodes. But they weren't bad. Mostly I just wish Tig Notaro's character could have some more screentime.
A friend and I have decided to watch Andor for the first time. I'm only through the first two episodes and will watch the third tomorrow. I'm not thrilled with how slow the pacing has been so far, but I hear it picks up soon. But also, I love Diego Luna and would probably watch him watch paint dry, so I'll be continuing regardless ๐
Andor - is slow to start, but picks up the pace in the second half of each season. The last five episodes of each season speed by for the most part. I think part of the difficulty is it has a lot of balls to juggle - several character plot lines, and political world-building.
Yes, I also think Andor has a slow start in both seasons. I'd have stuck with it anyway because it's Star Wars, but it helped to know it was so critically well regarded. But they really go places in both seasons, and the show has a lot to say about societies and exploitation. It's also really impressive what they've done for a TV production, the equal of any of their films IMO.
It's been encouraging to hear that so many others really enjoy it. I watched episode 3 today and liked it a lot more than the first two. And I agree, the production has been stellar so far!
Almost done my Buffy and Angel Rewatch - which dates very well. Finished Buffy, and am halfway through Angel S5 (which is my favorite season of that series).
Trying "The Artful Dodger" which has popped up on Hulu. It's not bad, I may stick with it. Takes place in Australia, with Dodger now a surgeon, and Fagin tailing along, and a Governor's daughter who blackmails Dodger into being his apprentice surgeon, after she catches him and Fagin stealing a ruby necklace off of a spectator to one of Dodger's surgeries. The actor playing Dodger reminds me of the actor who was the head of the gang of thieves in Shadow and Bone, who I rather liked.
Flirted with Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - but alas, it didn't hold my attention. Well shot, good dialogue, just not gripping me for some reason.
Still loving The Pitt S2 - this is the best medical procedural I've seen, and the most realistic. (And I've seen a lot of medical procedurals.) It's similar to This is Gonna Hurt, but never leaves the ER, and doesn't get into the personal lives of the doctors overly much? Or not unless they bring it into the ER. I'd say it's a bit more focused than This is Gonna Hurt? Also each hour is an hour of one shift in the ER in Pittsburgh (a major US city in Pennsylvania - this is in Western PA, and not near the Atlantic like Philly, although Pittsburgh has a river, and is hilly). Very realistic, most realistic I've seen. No music. And non-stop action, jumping from patient to patient.
Tried His and Hers and it didn't hold my attention for some reason. The Netflix thrillers aren't. It may be Netflix - which likes to crash.
Also tried Wonder Man - which kept putting me to sleep - I had a bad cold at the time, so that may be part of it? I may also be getting burned out on this genre? I don't know, none of the characters grabbed me - and it is more about Hollywood - auditioning, casting, and acting - then about superheroes? It really is a dark expose on the movie industry, which has been done a lot now?
I skipped a good bit of Dodger S1, as I just wanted to see where it was going. I've got it in my watchlist to try S2. Right now I'm still racing through things in the Netflix watchlist, hoping to wrap them by next weekend.
I watched it on Hulu originally. I can't recall having any problem with Netflix, and I used it on two different TVs. I have had problems with another service though, can't recall which one. It had a tendency to suddenly alter the sound, either getting very loud or very soft. I'd have to back out of the show or sometimes the service and then go back in. It would then reset and be fine again.
How are you accessing Netflix -- do use a Roku, Fire Stick, go direct on your laptop?
I would not be a phone viewer either. We use a Roku on our main TV but also have a TV with Roku built in. I notice that Netflix does work (and look) different on both. I suspect the built in TV runs an older model of it, and that may be the issue, that it's trying to work with an updated form of Netflix and it's causing problems.
We finished Bridgerton S4 (episode 4) this morning, so we're all caught up now for the second part of the season. Yous were right that the cliffhanger is painful, but I thought it was quite logical. I have no complaints, really. Agatha's storyline made me cry. I also enjoyed Violet's ||I am the tea you're having.|| line, I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe.
I continued The Company. I watched eps 11-13/30 - I need to be on 19 by the end of the week, I know I will not manage that. *sigh* But I am enjoying the show so much more than I thought I would. It's just a delightful watch.
I also watched more of The Cross-Dressed Union, now on 22/24, I really wanted to finish it this week. Almost! I finished the first ep of Saint Pierre season 2 - I had started it over a week ago, but it'll be slow going, I can already tell. I do still like it, though, I have really grown fond of the characters during season 1. It'll be a comfort watch.

Actually, I think it may already be back? They keep advertising it on Hulu and ABC - via annoying insurance commercials.

I really enjoyed it, but sometimes I wanted them to hurry up a bit. Taking six episodes to get to the point was long.
