I finished watching Netflix's Hostage miniseries starring Suranne Jones as the beleaguered UK Prime Minister. It's good fun, but there were a few things in it that greatly irritated the parliamentary nerd in me. I won't bore you with what they were. I also started the new (3rd) series of the Aussie drama The Newsreader starring Anna Torv of Fringe fame.
And of course this week's eps of Alien: Earth, Strange New Worlds and Outlander: Blood of my Blood. It was the season 3 finale of ST: SNW and critics be damned, I've really enjoyed this season. I'm a Trek fan, but not a purist -- the show remains my fave Trek series.
Only Murders started up this past week, but as I indicated last week, I'll likely wait until most episodes are available before starting it, if I even do. The reviews have been less than kind for this new season -- with one calling it "Only Guest Stars in the Building" because it seems to have abandoned plot in favour of guest stars. So we'll see. High Potential starts up this week -- I'm not exactly excited about that, but it will be nice to have a show that is relatively undemanding to watch. The new season of The Morning Show also starts this week, but again, I'll likely wait until more episodes are available. There's also Netflix's Black Rabbit with Jude Law and Jason Bateman that sounds potentially intriguing -- I guess that's the one I'm most looking forward to.
It rained a lot this week so I had a massive tv bings lol
I finished binging The Tunnel which is a uk/france thing from 2013. It was great, but the ending was sad.
also watched The Girlfriend which I kinda hated but also enjoyed lol I don't know how else to explain my feelings on that one.
watched the first few eps of The Sunshine Murders which is a very low budget UK/Cyprus show, but I was surprised to find it has Marina Sirtis in it as the Greek mother, and Peter Andre in it as the pathologist. Crazy. But its fun, so worth a watch imo.
Top End Bub S1 which is a sequel series to the Top End Wedding movie. Its an Australian series/movie set in the Northern Territory, that features characters from the Tiwi Islands, which is home to Tiwi Aboriginal Australian people. Its quite light hearted and fun and only 30 minute eps.
Alien Earth which is so great, I love that sheep lol this week was especially fun with what happened in the lab.
A few other random things. The Amazing Race Australia (celebrity) is currently airing, so watched the first few eps of that. The semi final of The Great British Sewing Bee which shocked me with who went home. Project Runway which also shocked me by who got sent home. Strange New Worlds season final which was pretty good although sad. Outlander Blood of my Blood which, sigh, for so many in-story reasons I don't think I actually have the patience for right now so may put it aside and binge it at the end of the season.
Next week its the final of The Great British Sewing Bee, sadly. I'm also looking forward to Black Rabbit.
I finished binging The Tunnel which is a uk/france thing from 2013.
Have you seen the original, the Swedish-Danish series, Bron/Broen (The Bridge)? It's excellent. I really liked The Tunnel, but the original was better. I know it's available free on Plex TV -- don't know if Plex is available wherever you are.
I've seen some of it, but not all of it. Unfortunately its not on Plex here in Australia but I think it might be on a local service I'm not subbed to right now. I'll have to check into it.
The franchise is one where I started with the original, then lost access to it, the watched some of The Tunnel, then lost access, then watched some of The Bridge (the US/Mexico one) and then somewhere along the way lost where I was up to in any of it. Found the UK one on a free streaming service here, so made sure to watch it while I could lol
I believe there is also a german version? not sure if that one is a good watch or not though.
With no more For the Love of Dogs, switched back to The Dog House for exercise viewing. On the last season of that so hopefully some game shows will have started up again.
Reached S26 of Silent Witness and my interest is petering out. Thought S25's guest stars and season-long plot about surveillance and upsetting the apple cart of DNA was a nice change. But I'm not loving the cast changes.
Started up A Spy Among Friends and liking its insight into English society. Don't remember if I mentioned finishing Outrageous, which was a more light hearted look at some of the same issues.
Saw a few more episodes of S2 of Julia. Finished S6 of Unforgotten, and back to watching Daily Show and Colbert and Last Week Tonight returned from a shorter break.
Also started the latest season of Strange New Worlds and might do some background viewing of Sister Boniface.
I've not had issues with the cast changes (but I also have never binged the show, just watched each series when it comes out, so maybe it's less jarring that way). But what I've had major trouble buying into is the Nikki-Jack relationship -- it icks me out for reasons I can't explain.
There's that too. I appreciate that they took a long time to go there, but after what happened with Harry I half expected Jack to die that season. I just don't think they have any chemistry or much in common outside of work, so narrowing things down to the two of them and with them in a relationship to boot, it changes the show.
And I miss Clarissa terribly. I've never cared for the character of Jack but together they made a fun team, and I also liked how she worked with Nikki.
I watched Taskmaster UK S20E01 and caught up with Taskmaster NZ S6. Movies: The Conjuring: Last Rites (meh) and Together (surprisingly good).
Looking forward to: The Long Walk (going to the cinema next week)
On my to-check-out list: - Mandibules (French-Belgian comedy about a giant fly that my parents recommended) - Bon Appétit, Your Majesty! (I keep hearing good things about this one) - Confidence Queen (curious about that one) - 10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40 (Japanese BL, looks cute)
I've been watching 10 things I want to do before I turn 40 and I've really enjoyed it so far! It does have a lot of cute moments. The pacing is kinda slow, but I personally like that.
I am super excited about the Long Walk, that was one of my fav Stephen King short stories back when I was a teen in the 80s lol I hope the movie is good and you enjoy it!
Alien: Earth - two episodes today. It's continuing to compel me. Noah Hawley wrote and directed them, and as a result they are idea laden, with a lot of clever world building here and there. The five - are the five corporations. The Wei-Yuntang Corporation (which is the one that Ripley worked for in the films) send ships into space to obtain specimens in order to create weapons and acquire more power and possibly territory. And we learn a bit more about Boy Kavalier and his corporation Prodigy, which has its own nefarious purposes. The fourth episode (I think it is the fourth), features what happened in space, how the space ship was sabotaged - and set up to crash. Also, why. And what happened to the crew - and how. I felt for the first mate - who had been having an affair with the Captain. Although, it does a good job of setting up Morrow (the cyborg) motivation and why he is so desperate to get the specimen's back. I realized watching the credits - that Timothy Oliphant (Justified) was in it. I thought - where? So I looked it up - and realized, that's why Kirsch looks so familiar. He's playing the sociopathic AI Robot under Boy Kavalier (he's unrecognizable in the role). The acting in this is excellent - the adults playing the kids in synthetic bodies - really get across that they are synthetic bodies with the mind of a child inside. The next episode - kills off two characters, and not in a pleasant manner - although it is mainly due to their own stupidity. The alien parasites and monsters are given a personality and not necessarily painted as evil - like they were in the Ridley Scott films? Here they are similar to the alien life forms in the animated Sci-Fi Series Scavenger. They are doing what they do to survive. It's not personal, and it's not evil. They are parasitic life forms, and carnivores. No real monsters here are of the human variety - and the corporations, who just want to acquire more wealth and power, which is actually more terrifying than the monsters from space.
Hulu only drops one episode a week, and I got behind.
Buffy S3 - completed my rewatch of it today. It's a mixed bag of a season. Ironically the weak link is Faith - and her relationship with Buffy, which should have been built better than it actually was. If it had been - I'd have cared more about the character. Such as it is - I was tired of her. Also, it reminded me of an issue I had with Whedon and his series - which is the whole Freudian crap. It was a bit too much on the nose with Faith and the Mayor. I think I liked Faith better when I first watched the series in the 1998-1999? But her character doesn't really date well? And has been handled better in other series since then? I liked her better on Angel actually, mainly because they built more of a relationship between Faith and Angel, then with Faith/Buffy. I think a huge mistake was not making Buffy bisexual or building up on that friendship. As it is - Buffy doesn't really seem to have that much of a relationship with Faith - so it's hard to care. Angel seemed to have more of a connection somehow? I don't know. Other than Faith - I liked the season. I even like the Mayor as the villain.
Going to watch next:
Wednesday S2 Part II - I'm considering watching this.
Also, possibly a rewatch of Hamilton on Disney +.
Not really sure what else? I've not been watching much television of late.
I could never connect with Faith, even back when it was airing, between her and Dawn (RIP Michelle Trachtenberg), I had hard time connecting to any of the women besides Buffy, Joyce, Cordy and Willow really. I didn't mind Drusilla and Darla but I also never got obsessed with them as much as I did with Buffy the character. I think I connected with Dawn a little later, I can't remember exactly when though if it happened during airing or during a rewatch. But yeah I want to like Faith, because a lot of people do, but I'm just kinda "meh" on her. I did enjoy her with Angel though, you are on something with that - she was better on that series and with him? I actually have the same problem with Angel, I can't stand him in BTVS, but once he has his own show, I was perfectly fine with him.
I have to caveat this by saying that I always knew Angel only via his own show because I started watching both in S4/S1. However having later seen Angel in S1-S3, I could never get into their relationship and also thought the actor was much weaker. I didn't think either he or Angel really hit their stride until he had his own show.
Maybe that's what it was? I could never figure out why I couldn't care less about the character in the first couple seasons of BTVS but then love him in his own show and later on the actor with Bones. I thought maybe it was because I was more of a fan of Spike and loved Buffy/Spike that it tainted Angel retroactively a bit? Because I hated Riley as well since the beginning but I think that might be because of the character's personality? I didn't like how he seemed to want Buffy to be weaker so he could be the one save her.
I think the nature of the relationship was so different -- the one with Angel was definitely more of a teen romance (unsurprisingly, given the high school setting). I thought the casting of Riley was particularly odd given Marc Blucas was so unusually tall and Sarah is already very short.
Yeah, Buffy/Angel - is the teen girl fantasy of the much older boy who sees only her, and knows stuff and protects her - and is always there, also it was following Whedon's whole Freudian Daddy issue theme - which he also does with Faith and the Mayor, and Spike/Dru, also to a degree Cordelia and Wes. None end well. They all break up in S3. (I see it clearly now - didn't see it as clearly when I first watched it in 1998.) Buffy and Faith's fathers abandon them, they both have mother's who drink (one more than the other), and both fall for a much older demonic father figure, and are willing to sacrifice themselves for him, and each other. Except Buffy killed hers to save the world, Faith was assisting hers. Whedon decides to kind of underline the point - by turning Mayor into a giant snake like monster, with a phallic head (I wish he hadn't.) And of course Angel has to drain Buffy's blood to live...and then after helping them win (he doesn't do all that much outside of fight vampires) - disappears into the smoke and shadows from whence he came.
Buffy/Riley was basically Buffy/with a human version of Angel, which didn't work. I enjoyed them for a while, but it didn't work. I think Gellar started pushing for Buffy/Spike in S4, because she didn't think it worked? I know we have Gellar to thank for Spike coming back in S4 - she suggested they bring Spike back.
Thanks for the info! I didn't know Geller wanted to bring Spike back for Season 4. I didn't really follow any news or anything back then since I was a kid and all I cared about was a new episode.
Nor did I catch all of that Freudian Daddy issue themes, I haven't read much meta or analysis's on BTVS - I just tend watch shows and either enjoy them and follow them to the end or sometimes I'd get bored with it and stop watching. That makes a more sense though in context of Angel & Riley, I guess.
Caveat? I didn't know the bit about Gellar until now. Marsters said it in Youtube video. None of that was known at the time it aired.
And uhm, how to put this? This is NOT a kid's show. Of course a lot of it went over your head. It wasn't like the early Star Wars films, this was written for adults who are 15 and up. Actually, more like 18 and up.
Yeah I know it's not a kid's show, not much of it went over my head though. It wasn't hard to understand, I just never really looked behind what actually happened or the reasons/themes behind it - like you stated above. I just took it as face value, until I discovered fansites/fanfiction later on.
I'd say the earlier seasons are definitely fine for pre-teens/teens, once the later seasons happen over at the UPN, it definitely seemed to mature more - definitely a lot more sex.
Yeah, most people saw it on surface level back then. I can't say that I saw it much deeper when I watched in 1997. I skipped a lot of episodes back then - I was 28 and it was sigh, about high school? I was watching mainly for Giles and Angel (again 28?). It didn't take off for me until roughly S2, which I also still was watching on a fairly superficial level.
No, I didn't start getting obsessed with it until S6. I wrote meta during the second part of S6 or in 2002. When it got really interesting to me. And a lot more adult.
Although, it makes me cringe thinking of a six year old watching the Pack. (That has an attempted rape in the middle of it - by Xander on Buffy, and it's a scary episode with people eating the principal.). But I have a cousin who let her small children watch Game of Thrones, which is a 100 times worse. Somehow they came out okay. (shrugs)
It just freaks me out - because I wasn't allowed to see Grease the Movie in movie theaters when I was 11. LOL! And that's tame in comparison. Although, I did end up seeing the film Excalibur at 14 (which ahem was VERY R-rated, and started with a graphic rape sequence much to my parents shock and dismay, apparently they didn't realize how R-rated it truly was).
Having watched the series multiple ways now? I think or have noticed The Buffy/Angel and Buffy/Riley relationships work better - if you start with S1 Buffy - and go in order from there? They don't work if you start in S4 or after or start with Angel. (Also, I've noticed that most viewers who start with S4 - 7, then go back and watch 1-3, don't understand the appeal of Angel or Buffy/Angel at all.) I think the reason for this is how the characters are written and the overall writing? Also the actors? Buffy was for the most part - David Boreanze's first job and he was terrified.
I started watching it live on television in 1997 on WB. So I started as a Buffy/Angel fan, and most of the viewers I've known who started with S1, were into Buffy/Angel. The writers managed to convince me it was a really bad idea for various reasons and they'd never end up together - with Angel S1 and Buffy S4, specifically the cross-overs, and then what put the nail on that coffin was Buffy/Riley (which was basically Buffy with a human version of Angel played by Marc Blucas). So if that is where you started - with S4 and Angel S1? Of course you didn't get the Buffy/Angel relationship - the writers were subtly working over time to turn you against it.
I prefer S4-S7, and Angel S1-5 to Buffy S1-3 for a lot of reasons? I think I like the characters better in the later seasons, and some of the characters that were in S1-3 Buffy were wisely moved over to Angel and work better over there.
Started watching the series in 1997 as well, but I was like 6 when that started in March, didn't turn 7 until October that year. And I watched it all the way through til the finale. I don't remember enjoying Angel/Buffy at all, I did kind of liked the idea of her with Xander (which has since died on various rewatches) and Oz (although I still liked him more with Willow) not that either character were actual potential love interests because of Angel. I've since rewatched from the beginning multiple times and I still cannot seem to ship Buffy/Angel or Buffy/Riley at all. Unless I caught a random episode here or there on TV through reruns, I always start at the rewatches at the beginning - I didn't even know people skipped around, but I guess that makes sense to go the seasons you like. I think I start to like David Boreanaz in BTVS once Angelus really appears - I think his acting definitely got better in Season 2, but that makes sense if he was new. In Angel S1 the cast surrounding him I absolutely loved and made me like him more than I ever did in BTVS series.
But I do think during the first/original run that once School Hard happens and James Marsters appears as Spike kinda brings out how boring Angel was to me. Spike quickly became a favorite character of mine and once it was realized he had feelings for Buffy I was a goner for them. Although they had a lot of horrible moments as well which I'm blaming completely on Whedon - I never researched the reasonings behind the events in S6 but I assume it was his hands.
At some point during the show's original run, I also saw Buffy the Vampire Slayer film which I loved despite the differences - I enjoyed the Buffy/Pike relationship in that one.
Yup :) I didn't really have much restrictions on what I watched - so I watched whatever my older sister did back then (or I went off to my own thing or vice versa) and we both loved Buffy, plus I think more of the mature scenes happened later in the show after they moved to the UPN. I also watched and loved Xena, Hercules, basically a lot if not most of the TGIF shows. We just never got into Party of Five, 90210, and Dawson's Creek. We watched sporadically Seinfeld and Friends, but they weren't my favorites (but they are probably aimed more adult audiences, never really tried them as one).
I think it has a lot to do with whose point of view we're in? We're mostly in Buffy's in Buffy, and what we get of Faith or Angel, is kind of stereotypical? Faith's the bad girl, and Angel is the mysterious dark hero and love interest. We don't get much character development - and the slant is more on humor. We get more character development for Angel in S2, but after that - it's gone until Angel. We don't really know anything about him or why he's sticking around. We're never really in his point of view except for Amends - which is a good episode. Enemies is the other episode - and that's when I realized Faith/Angel was interesting, both actors and characters came alive.
In Angel, Faith, Angel, Wes, and Cordelia are developed more - and given room to breath. (Don't get me wrong - I'm more of a Buffy than an Angel fan, but I think there are certain characters due to it being Buffy's show - had no room to breath or develop?
Watched HPI Season 4 which was at some point released on Disney+/Hulu, I think it was really good, and I loved the three dad potentials & how that ended up working out - that twist at the end! I want the next season! :( I didn't like how they portrayed her pregnant belly though? It was weird that it was just kept being exposed. Is that normal? I don't think I ever really saw that in any American/English type of films/shows except for the random shot of changing or touching the belly in the mirror shot.
Anyway it's making me excited for High Potential Season 2, so I started rewatching that series - which I feel like grounds the original show more in reality? I do kinda miss the crazy shenanigans that Morgane would get up to but I still love it and can't wait for more. Also watched the trailer for S2 'cause I couldn't wait. I'm excited for more David Giuntoli appearances (got to meet him at a con a few months ago JUST a week before he had to be wherever they have to shoot so that was exciting! He seemed really happy to be on the series as well) Also excited to see Steve Howey again (oh man do I want to shave that 'stash though!).
Watched Strange New Worlds - I loved the seasons' finale! I shall miss Batel and the rest of the cast until next season. I have to agree with jo I think this too is my new favorite Trek series.
Oh, that's great to know that HPI is on Disney. I've been wanting to check it out, and I was already planning that at some point I'd switch from Apple to Disney for a while.
♥ Excellent! I've tried to get a few people IRL to watch it or High Potential but they always brush me off. Luckily I've found a few people on Tumblr that like both and tinny here at dreamwidth.
Yay, glad you liked HPI! I was so obsessed with it for the first half of the year omg.
I also really liked season 4 and especially the way you always know the writers are backing the ship even if it doesn't always look that way.
I am currently watching s5 (airing in France now), and really enjoying that too.
About the pregnant belly: I wouldn't say it's a common sight, but I have seen people do this. As for Morgane, she's always portrayed as dressing extravagantly and leaning into the shock/visibility factor than what is socially acceptable, so maybe the costume department thought that this would fit her?
I didn't know High Potential was back on, I'll probably pick that up again, too.
I think I found the American version first (when it first appeared on Disney+ since I don't have normal TV channels), but quickly became obsessed myself - it actually quickly became my comfort show? I rewatched it constantly so much. So I had to know more and somehow I discovered HPI & HPI was also on Disney+ with an English dub and binged the first 3 seasons very very quickly, lol.
"know the writers are backing the ship even if it doesn't always look that way." Exactly! ♥ plus the acting - oh god the disappointment in both of them at them learning baby wasn't his when he reads the letter. x.x
I'm jealous you're watching S5! Can't wait for it. Do you know if they'll be another season after it or has it not been announced?
"leaning into the shock/visibility factor than what is socially acceptable, so maybe the costume department thought that this would fit her?" That fits, I didn't really think of that. It was definitely shocking for me, lol.
High Potential will be back on September 16, 2025 ♥ I cannot wait.
I've been meaning to ask, have you checked out the other adaptations of HPI? Not sure where to find them but curious how they deal with everything.
I found the American version first, too, from an article about ships (which is hilarious in hindsight because the ship has been toned down so much in the American version that I don't ship them at all), and then later discovered that the original is French.
I'm jealous you're watching S5! Can't wait for it.
I can share if you like, but there are no subs except French for now. So if you don't know French, it'll be a hard sell.
Do you know if they'll be another season after it or has it not been announced?
They already announced over a year ago that they're not going to do more than five seasons, so this one is the last. We're hoping for Christmas specials or something of the sort, like Doctor Who, but not sure that's going to happen.
oh god the disappointment in both of them at them learning baby wasn't his when he reads the letter. x.x
Both their acting is so brilliant! I love how soft and subtle he is, and how she always hides her pain behind flamboyant actions and lies. They're just such a joy to watch, both of them.
I've been meaning to ask, have you checked out the other adaptations of HPI? Not sure where to find them but curious how they deal with everything.
I have heard they exist, but since French is a language I speak and I don't know the others, I never tried. I have heard that the Greek version has a pretty macho Karadec, which I don't want to see at all, considering the fact that he's so softspoken is what attracted me to him in the first place. But I really don't know anything about the other versions.
I still love Morgan/Adam in HP, although I wasn't sure how I was going to like him in the first couple of episodes, he's definitely a little rougher than HPI. HPI Morgane/Adam do have a lot more chemistry.
English is all I know, but if find one with English subs let me know ;)
they're not going to do more than five seasons
Damn! Fingers crossed for specials then!
I have heard that the Greek version has a pretty macho Karadec Meh, I don't like that idea either. I'd probably check them out if they ever appeared on Disney or Hulu or the other streaming devices I have if they had English dubbed or subtitles just to see.
Chief of War -- we're not quite keeping up with this. It's violent and not very fun, but otoh, yay indigenous TV, and it is good, with that "prestige TV" vibe.
Prehistoric Planet -- a naturalistic (CGI) nature doco about dinosaurs, narrated by David Attenborough; really charming, quality animation, lots of cute baby 'saurs.
Bluey -- this is 100% my happy place.
Secret Genius of Modern Life and Connections (BBC) -- both exploring modern inventions and the science history behind them.
And then a slew of Asian dramas: I have one more episode to go in my Nothing But You rewatch, and I started My Youth with Song Joong-ki, which is very low-key so far, not much in the way of plot.
A friend and I are watching Mystic Pop-Up Bar, which is great. I bounced off it a few years back, but I'm engaged now, especially since one of the dads from Family by Choice is in it.
My partner and I are watching Aema on Netflix. This is set in the tawdry film industry of the early 1980s and based on a true story. It's about a celebrated actress who is tired of the exploitative aesthetic (sort of antagonist, but sympathetic) and an unknown ingenue who is desperate to make it, even if it means compromising (main POV character, also great). It's about censorship, commercialism vs artistic vision, film-making, politics. Tonally, it reminds me a bit of The Offer, but Aema veers into comedy sometimes, and sometimes... well, content warnings for sexual assault. I am on the verge of shipping the two female leads and hoping that will tip over into absolutely shipping them. ;-)
Low Life -- Two episodes with my partner and a friend. Another period piece, this one about an array of scam artists and ruffians trying to salvage shipwrecked treasure in the 1970s. A lot of competing interests and macho posturing, and quite a lot of exposition, but I think it's going to be fun.
Stress levels at work peaked again(!), so I retreated into more hopefully relaxing cdrama territory.
I finished Amidst a Snowstorm of Love, ugh omg I can't say I enjoyed the last episodes as much as I had hoped. They were better than the middle parts, but there was barely any happy snuggling to be had, it was all somehow spoiled by either her crying/complaining or his romantic gestures being increasingly random. Lets not forget the Chinese sports propaganda. I made it through the whole thing, though, so... I am happy about that.
I tried to finish something that'd been lying around for a while but failed immediately, and instead started the next Wu Lei thing: Love Like The Galaxy. I know a lot of people loved this drama. If you're one of them, I'm sorry, just ignore my rants, please. I absolutely hated the first seven episodes. It's all over-the-top comedy in a style I do not like, interspersed with stoic male lead appearances that barely overlap with hers except for a few damsel in distress moments. I mostly skipped through those eps. After that, the female lead leaves town and it gets better, albeit the action is very illogical with lots of tropey moments. I am hanging in there because Wu Lei's voice (of all things!) is really attractive in this one. And I have no brain left after work and do not really mind that it makes no sense. Oh well, as long as my brain is unable to grasp anything more substantial, I'll keep watching.
I keep going back to favorite scenes from Nothing But You, which is very unusual for me, but I think speaks to the amount of work pressure I'm under that I need things that I already know are calming and cute. Oi. /o\ If you like icons, I made two icon sets for it this month.
I am also watching HPI season 5, the second of the last four episodes dropped this week. I'm out of the obsessively fannish phase but still enjoying it, especially since I can talk about it with my French discord friend in detail.
Oh, and I watched an ep of A Dream Within a Dream, which is a transmigration parody that immediately endeared itself to me by parodying Love Like The Galaxy in its first episode. :D I'll see if it can hold my interest. The first ep was pretty good.

I'm also waiting on the entire Only Murders to watch it all at once. I feel like the show works better that way somehow.

Have you seen the original, the Swedish-Danish series, Bron/Broen (The Bridge)? It's excellent. I really liked The Tunnel, but the original was better. I know it's available free on Plex TV -- don't know if Plex is available wherever you are.

And I miss Clarissa terribly. I've never cared for the character of Jack but together they made a fun team, and I also liked how she worked with Nikki.

Looking forward to: The Long Walk (going to the cinema next week)
On my to-check-out list:
- Mandibules (French-Belgian comedy about a giant fly that my parents recommended)
- Bon Appétit, Your Majesty! (I keep hearing good things about this one)
- Confidence Queen (curious about that one)
- 10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40 (Japanese BL, looks cute)

And uhm, how to put this? This is NOT a kid's show. Of course a lot of it went over your head. It wasn't like the early Star Wars films, this was written for adults who are 15 and up. Actually, more like 18 and up.
no subject
I'd say the earlier seasons are definitely fine for pre-teens/teens, once the later seasons happen over at the UPN, it definitely seemed to mature more - definitely a lot more sex.
no subject

In Angel, Faith, Angel, Wes, and Cordelia are developed more - and given room to breath. (Don't get me wrong - I'm more of a Buffy than an Angel fan, but I think there are certain characters due to it being Buffy's show - had no room to breath or develop?

I have to agree with

English is all I know, but if find one with English subs let me know ;)
they're not going to do more than five seasons
Damn! Fingers crossed for specials then!

Meh, I don't like that idea either.
