Syndrome E, the French police procedural/thriller I'd mentioned last week; The Diplomat (s02), which I enjoyed, and also agreed with Alan Sepinwall of Rolling Stone magazine that it could have used a few more episodes; my Outlander s07 Part 1 rewatch.
I started The Day of The Jackal, which looks to be really good, but that's based on only 1.5 episodes, so maybe too early to say for sure. But those 1.5 episodes are grand!
I also started watching the original Wolf Hall, which aired back in...2015? I had at least started to watch it back then, but couldn't remember if I'd finished it. The second series of it has just started in the UK, so I wanted to refresh my memory (at the very least) before embarking on season 2.
My weekly stuff was back, so I watched the CDN and UK Bake Offs, The Traitors Canada, High Potential, Brilliant Minds, and... the return of my guilty pleasure show, The Curse of Oak Island started up this week with season 12.
Interesting about Diplomat -- more often a season's pacing problems are due to being dragged out. But I could see that about Diplomat given the piling on of character development and issues in S1.
I actually considered taking Peacock's offer of $1.99 for 2 more months because I was curious to see Jackal, but I couldn't stand the thought of sitting through commercials. I'll probably just wait to watch the whole thing when I resubscribe.
Mostly the same as last week. The Traitors Canada, Celebrity Ex on the Beach UK, House of Villains, Survivor, Doctor Odyssey. Today I am catching up on Fire Country, and quite amused to see the first appeaeance of fandom's boy, Jared Padalecki.
Jared Padalecki's character is now working with the firepeople team, so I assume he'll be sticking around for a while. Should be fun. It reminded me that they introduced another fandom favourite Morena Baccarin last season, and she hasn't been back yet but that character is supposed to get her spinoff show. (About cops unfortunately.)
(Also anyone who likes ridiculous (complimentary) whump should watch Fire Country, that's not the main draw for me but it does deliver.)
I know we, the viewers, have a massive advantage because we know who the traitors are, but OMG this lot of faithfuls are the most clueless bunch in the history of the franchise. It was sort of funny at first, but now it's just almost putting me right off watching.
It is wild for sure. I am still enjoying the other little subplots that don't involve waiting for the faithful to catch a clue, like whatever is going on up in the traitors' conclave. Still curious to see how it all shakes out!
I watched: Arcane S2: Really pretty! I watched only one episode and I'm curious how things will develop.
Taskmaster AU S3: I was already spoiled for one of the tasks because a clip went around on several Reddit communities for whatever reason. Still really enjoyed the episode.
Taskmaster UK S18 (season finale): Lots of fun! Andy Zaltzman and Rosie Jones remain my favorites.
I also caught up with my soap opera and watched 15 episodes (three weeks I missed). The second half of my crack OTP's comeback is being teased in the four-week previews, so I'm already hyped for him. Unfortunately, the writing is pretty lackluster and, overall, I only enjoy four characters from a cast of maybe 15. Trucking on for the sake of my crack ship or at least their friendship.
I'm looking forward to several new K-dramas but I've been feeling a little depressed these past few days, so no idea if I will actually manage to tune in.
Been busy IRL with getting a new job, so sadly I haven't had too much time to indulge in TV.
That being said, I kinda wanna keep rewatching S1 of Black Summer (Z Nation spinoff) or keep rewatching a bit of GBBO's spinoff The Professionals. I dunno yet, a lot of my watchtime this week got occupied by Youtube.
We're one episode away from finishing the latest season of Only Murders. We did finish S2 of D.I. Ray yesterday.
We also finished S2 of Rutherford Falls. Shame about the cancellation, it was a cute show. That said I was not on board for the double love triangle plot being set up for S3.
As our Peacock subscription runs out in a few days I have set everything else aside to go through The Closer. Am partway through S3 and should finish that. I've really been taken by the writing which has been strong throughout.
Am almost caught up on Daily Show and Colbert which I postponed because even humor about the news is not something I want right now. Was glad that the Late Show had another Rescue Dog Rescue segment because I am here for Chris Evans cuddling puppies over the usual monologue.
Almost finished with season 1 of DOC - Nelle tue mani, only 2 episodes left and I really enjoyed the season. I really like that all the characters get a fair amount of screen time and have their own storylines, instead of being props for the main character as is most often the case. Definitely excited to continue with season 2 as well.
Also watched the first 5 episodes of Agatha All Along and although I like most of the characters, the episodes have been quite boring tbh, especially the trials. The reveal was what everyone expected since the casting days, so no surprises there either. I'll still finish it, because it's the gayest MCU show ever and that probably won't happen again lol
Finished Only Murders in the Building S04 and had so much fun with it! I enjoyed how meta it was and all of the investigation shenanigans.
Started From S01 and am on episode 5 now. I do like the spooky small town vibes and the monsters! I was also surprised by a few early reveals since I thought they were going to drag a few things out a little more... I want to believe the executive producers learned something from Lost, but I guess we'll see lol
Dancing with the Stars (kind of) - I've not gotten through all of this weeks 500th episode. I think this may be the longest running reality competition with the original judges on television? It has 33 seasons.
Great British Baking Show - (I know it's called Bake Off else where - but due to copyright infringement issues with Pillsbury Bake Off, they had to call it Baking Show in the US) - watched the latest episode. It's such a comforting show.
Rings of Power or Arcane. Probably should do Rings of Power - since I caved and spent the additional funds to get ads free. I cancel that - when I finish watching all the things I want to watch on it. I need to watch the first season of both - in order to watch the second, because I can't remember the first seasons at all. There's too much time between seasons. It's why I've never caught up with The Witcher. I loved S1, but alas, cannot remember S1.
Movies?
Plan on watching Wolverine + Deadpool (Disney +) and Thelma (Hulu) - both are comedies, apparently. Action comedies. And I really need that right now.
(Also been watching GH (which I discuss with others on FB, and with Mother, and my best friend), finished Agatha All Along, and finished Slow Horses last weekend.)
I still haven't gotten around to watching The Diplomat S2. I want to re-watch S1 first, but I barely watched anything the past two weeks.
Abbott Elementary and Ghosts are my two comfort shows at the moment. I can always squeeze their episodes in somewhere. Now they are both on hiatus until December though :/
Silo is back and even though it has been a while since the first season, I had no urge to re-watch S1 and I feel like I remember enough. Funny how that can differ so much between shows.
I watched the new Doctor Odyssey episode. After the fandom exploded last week, this week's episode went heavier on the hints but did a slight walk back on what everyone expected to happen. So far, the fandom is still hopeful that it's just the obligatory early/mid-season angst and not a permanent queerbaiting situation. I'm with the hopeful faction. There are over 50 fics for the fandom on ao3 now, and the tags are an absolute joy to read. (Just looking at the list is very spoilery.)
I watched two random eps of Psych since it's free on my Netflix. I keep looking for eps I remember as good, but can't find them from the synopses. Dang. The ones I did watch were okay, but nothing special. I like Lassiter now a lot more than I remember liking him before, maybe I should really try and watch Galavant.
I watched the first ep of Detective Cross, after seeing an actual poster of it at the bus stop on my way to work. I love Aldis Hodge, he's a very good actor. He got even more ripped since Leverage and that does not make him physically more attractive to me, though. The show itself is a bit too dark and scary for me, I think. I'm not sure I can stick with it, even though the subject matter ("black cop tries to clear up a murder amidst his community rife with distrust of the police") is great.
I tried the season 2 premiere of Colin from Accounts, but the two leads were suddenly so hard to empathize with that I dropped it again. I really loved the first season, so I'll probably try again, but this season didn't start out very promisingly.
I watched two more eps of Taskmaster season 7, the original UK one, and I must have been in the right mood for it this time, because I liked both eps a lot.
Oh, and I watched the new Matlock pilot. I liked it, especially all the references to the 80s ;D, but not enough to keep watching.
To alleviate the political stress, I watched a few political things on youtube. The ones I liked best were John Oliver's and Zaid Tabani's.
