TV Tuesday: Looking Back

Many people would agree that TV shows have been increasingly well told and produced over the decades. Budgets factor into that as CGI has both raised and lowered certain costs (depending on the type of show) and the level of animation for series has also improved.

What shows do you think have benefited from the improvement in effects, sets, number of location shoots, and other changes from shows in the 20th century? Are there any shows you think were turning points for the industry?

The Gilded Age is the Nuke LaLoosh of period dramas*. I keep being drawn back by the stunning filming of gorgeous sets and costumes, but as soon as there are actual Words, I'm throwing things at the screen. Everything looks much better than Upstairs, Downstairs but everything sounds worse.
