TV Tuesday: Like Minded Recs
There might be many reasons to try out a new show, whether the theme, particular actors or show runners, a style of writing, or the appearance of certain tropes. And it's always great to get someone started on a show you've enjoyed.
What sort of "If you like X, try Y" could you suggest to the
tv_talk community? Or has anyone in the past successfully guided you to a new show by linking it to another one?

It has all the charm, is visually very beautiful - Shanghai in the 1930s - and two charismatic leads backed up by a great cast.
It's also pretty easily available particularly on Max as it was partially financed by HBO Max Asia.

Uh, warnings for swearing, I guess? There's a lot of swearing. Also homophobia as a plotpoint.

Deadloch is really really funny. And gets funnier the more you go along and just commit to it. Sometimes it seems that so much of modern tv is really a kind of analogy? And you kind of sort of have to just get there and then the experience becomes more. I dunno.
But yes to Deadloch!

Yes, this! It's brutally funny in so many ways.

If you like Great British Bake Off - the Great Pottery Throw Down is basically the same with Pottery (it's on Max or should be). Also the Great BBQ Showdown has the same set up more or less.
If you like The Expanse - you might like Foundation, although Foundation takes longer to get into and is on Apple.
It's kind of hard to do well, since there's little things that are different, which may turn someone off?
If you liked Warehouse 13 - try Surreal Estate, very similar series, except one has more of a Ghostbuster vibe.
