TV_Talk Grand Reopening!
Many thanks to
colls for offering to pass on this community to new mods, and for keeping it open!
misbegotten and I are looking forward to getting some activity going, both in this community and also in other TV fandom communities on Dreamwidth.
This space has been used in different ways over the years, and while we would like to continue some of them, we also think that TV viewing has changed a lot since
tv_talk began. Shows are shorter, more scattered, with long hiatuses and uncertain returns (even, sometimes, when renewed!) There are also many more of them than there used to be, making it less likely that many people will be watching the same ones -- at least at the same time.
So we want to make this a space for fans to find one another as much as one where we're focused on a lot of posts being made. This is what we're planning:
==> TV Tuesday: A day for activities centered on TV fandom. This might mean polls, questions, fandom cage matches and more. We're open to suggestions!
==> Speak Up Saturday: A prompt post for people to talk about what they're currently watching -- the good, the bad, the frustrating and the exciting!
==> Meta, Reviews, Recaps and Primers, or General TV-Related Discussion: Any day of the week you can post your thoughts about TV old or new and try to get new people to watch 🙂
==> Watch Party: Want to hold a post for episode reactions? Maybe it'll be for a new show, the kickoff of a new season, or the start of a rewatch. Feel free to do it here!
==> Community Promos: It's tough to make single-fandom communities active here on Dreamwidth, but some mods are giving it a go. We'd like to help you find new participants!
We only have a few rules which you can read in our profile. We also need your help!
We would like to determine how members would like to handle spoilers. It is more likely than ever that people will not be watching in real time, might be binging a season, or might be coming to it years late. In order to decide what our spoiler rules will look like, we will be running a poll here on Saturday and encourage you to give us your thoughts.
How else can you help? Let people know we're open for their posts and comments. Let's have some fun!

Thanks for keeping the comm alive! I am mostly watching old shows these days. But it will be interesting to see what people are doing.

Given the move to streaming, while there have been problems with show access, I think it's also given new life to a lot of old shows. Probably people wouldn't have subscribed for them but once they have the subscription, they discover them.

I'm aware of the fixed Tuesday/Saturday posts but I'm still unsure about the etiquette/whether it's appropriate to post a TV update even if the main discussion topic is something else (example: the recent discussion about sex scenes). If you are not planning to have them, would you be okay with me doing a trial run?
An old LJ community of mine used to have these weekly posts, and I really liked knowing that there would be a specific day of the week when I could dump all my useless TV opinions in one place and look for recs in other people's comments. Obviously, I have no idea if other users feel the same, but that's why I'm asking here.
