I think I lot of stuff with Marc Blucas's character would not have worked that way in real life. Danny bent a lot of rules to help him out, and I just don't see most of that flying in the actual NYPD. Especially the part about using an anonymous CI on a stakeout.
That being said, I do like that Danny's reaction to his sexuality was basically who the fuck cares. A lot of shows just don't go there when it comes to the fact that not everyone is straight.
Fun facts: The area where Marc Blucas's character got stabbed and he called Danny from. That's one street over from mine. Sadly that was a night shoot
The day they filmed that scene, they were also filming inside a bar near my apartment. I'm guessing that was probably the cop bar at the end.
I began watching last night but my stupid TV crapped out about 20 minutes in. Glad it was up on the CBS site today.
I loved Erin, Linda and Nicky all acting like squealing fangirls!
I love how all of Frank's subordinates seem terrified by him. Well, terrified isn't the right word. A healthy fear based upon his position and place of influence? They also have a lot of respect for him as well, which he has earned by being the decent man that he is. I love that. They picked the perfect person for this role. I forget what a big man Tom Selleck is!
I was lost on the storyline with the cop and his sick wife. Why was it kept a secret? Why wouldn't he allow his employer to know such an important thing? He said something about the cost, so it seemed he had to keep working. But come on. ALS is a long term, progressive illness that renders people unable to care for themselves long before they actually die. There is no way it could be kept secret like this. Maybe I missed something.
"I see you got drapes." "I see you got clothes." LOL!! I don't know how cops put up with annoying people like those two! They deserve each other.
Stupid TV lines are stupid: When Russell catches the attacker, why would Danny tell him to get out of there and 'The victim fled on foot, that's what happened' IN FRONT OF THE CRIMINAL?! Oh. Because the script told him to. I guess the guy could've been unconscious by that point? But he wasn't when Danny picks up his head and asks Russell if that's the right guy! Maybe they flashed back to him being unconscious and I didn't catch it.
It was good to see Frank smile at the end. Tom Selleck doesn't get much opportunity to smile on this show.
But wow, talk about make believe! The portrayal of a movie star having to hide the fact that he's trolling around looking for anonymous homosexual sexual encounters because Hollywood "doesn't hire fairies to star in their moving pictures" was hilarious, and sheer fiction!
It was interesting that seeking out anonymous homosexual sex was portrayed as perfectly normal. Isn't that insulting to homosexuals? Aren't we always told that homosexuals are just like everyone else? Why couldn't the story and the crime have been a bit different, where he was secretly homosexual but not doing something like that?
We'll see if homosexuals will scream about that portrayal. I bet they won't. Doing so would be "judgmental" towards those who... troll the streets looking for anonymous homosexual sex, right? And yet all that does is portray homosexuals in a very poor light. Could've done without all the preaching at us as well.
But the only people who will be crabbed at is those who point out these facts.
