New Shows (March 31 - April 10)
- Weird Loners premieres on Fox on March 31.
Weird Lones is a single-camera comedy about four relationship-challenged mid-30-somethings who are unexpectedly thrust into one another’s lives, forming unlikely bonds in a Queens, NY, townhouse. Starring Becki Newton, Zachary Knighton, Nate Torrence and Meera Rohit Kumbhani, the series explores the lives of these underdogs who, each for his/her own distinct reasons, are solo singles when most of their peers are well along the path of marriage and family.
- Younger premieres on March 31 on TV Land.
"Younger" follows 40-year-old Liza (Sutton Foster), a suddenly single mother who tries to get back into the working world, only to find out it's nearly impossible to start at the bottom at her age. When a chance encounter with a 20-something guy at a bar convinces her she looks younger than she is, Liza tries to pass herself off as 26 -- with the help of a makeover, courtesy of her best friend Maggie (Debi Mazar). Armed with new confidence, she lands a job as an assistant to the temperamental Diana (Miriam Shor) and teams up with her new co-worker and fellow 20-something Kelsey (Hilary Duff) to make it in the career of her dreams.
- Olympus premieres on April 2 on Syfy.
Olympus tells the story of how a few brave men and women banished the Gods to the realm of the unconscious - a place they called the Underworld or the Kingdom of Hades. The series follows the protagonist as he seeks the truth about his past, which may be intertwined with the Gods themselves. The show stars Tom York, Sonya Cassidy, Matt Frewer, Sonita Henry and Graham Shiels.
- The Lizzie Borden Chronicles premieres on April 5 on Lifetime. It is based of the television movie Lizzie Borden Took an Ax.
"The Lizzie Borden Chronicles" delivers a fictionalized account of actual events and people surrounding Lizzie Borden (Christina Ricci)’s life after her controversial acquittal of the horrific double murder of her father and stepmother in 1892, when the exonerated figure lives a life awash in newfound celebrity filled with scandalous love affairs. But when numerous people close to Lizzie – ranging from her half-brother William (Andrew Howard) to Broadway luminaries and her business associate/underworld kingpin Mr. Flowers (Jonathan Banks) – start to mysteriously die under brutal and strange circumstances, legendary Pinkerton detective Charlie Siringo (Cole Hauser) becomes determined to prove her involvement in their ultimate demise.
- American Odyssey premieres on April 5 on NBC.
After a team of American soldiers battles jihadists in North Africa, they're shocked to learn that they've stumbled upon and killed Al Qaeda's top commander. Sergeant Odelle Ballard (Anna Friel), a soldier, mother, wife and the unit's only female member, discovers computer files that prove a major U.S. corporation is funding the jihadists. But before she can tell anyone, her team is attacked and killed. The world is told that the unit was wiped out by enemy militants, but the truth is that Odelle survived and is the only witness to her unit's true assassins: private military contractors - Osela. The series also stars Peter Facinelli and Jake Robinson.
- Wolf Hall premieres on April 5 on PBS.
Mark Rylance and Damian Lewis star in the six-hour television miniseries adapted from Hilary Mantel’s novels (Wolf Hall and its sequel, Bring Up the Bodies). The television event presents an intimate portrait of Thomas Cromwell, the brilliant and enigmatic consigliere to King Henry VIII, as he maneuvers the corridors of power at the Tudor court.
- Your Family or Mine? premieres on April 7 on TBS.
The series follows Oliver and Kelly, who are living proof of the old saying, "When you marry someone, you don't just marry them, you marry their whole family."
- The Comedians premieres on April 5 on FX. It is an adaptation of the Swedish series Ulveson And Herngren.
In The Comedians, Billy Crystal plays a comedy legend who is reluctantly paired with Josh Gad, an edgier up-and-coming star, in an unfiltered, behind-the-scenes look at a fictional late night sketch comedy show where egos and generations collide. Stephnie Weir stars as “Kristen Laybourne,” the anxiety-ridden producer behind The Billy & Josh Show who frequently finds herself caught in the middle of Billy and Josh's arguments, Matt Oberg stars as “Mitch Reed,” the show’s head writer, and Megan Ferguson stars as “Esme McCauley,” a no-nonsense production assistant. Together they spend most of their time managing the egos of their two stars and the generational divide that keeps them from ever fully seeing eye-to-eye.
- Marvel's Daredevil premieres on April 10 on Netflix.
"Marvel's Daredevil" is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a boy in a tragic accident but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, New York, where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night. Starring: Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Vincent D'Onofrio.

The rest of the shows don't sound like they'd be my cuppa. (And that's A-OK. I'm more than sure that there might be people out there who won't watch Daredevil or Wolf Hall). #TVforeveryone

Yes, I did see the Daredevil trailer. It's darker than I'd expect for the character. OTOH, kudos to Netflix for getting the show out there.

That's what I thought too and I was surprised by VD going all method-acting on this. I didn't know he was in it. I think it's nice all the Marvel shows have different flavors.
