Hello [community profile] tv_talk!

Here it is - our weekly opportunity to chat about non-current TV. Anything goes! Please stop by and tell us what you're watching, what you've been thinking of checking out, etc. Closed canons or something currently airing that you're just behind on -- it's all good. :)

Some possible topics:
- What show(s) have you watched this week?
- Favorite guest star?

Because of a clip I saw on fail_fandom_anon, I YouTubed "Blackpool," a mini-series where detective David Tennant suspects charming rogue David Morrissey of involvement in a murder. It's sort of like "The Singing Detective," where the characters randomly burst into lip-synching at high emotional moments. Caution: Netflix lists this as "Viva Blackpool," but that's the name of a much-less-good made-for-TV-movie sequel with Morrissey but without Tennant.

Which I followed up with a three-episode "Sense and Sensibility," with Morrissey billed first, as Colonel Brandon. Pretty good adaptation, and Dan Stevens' aquamarine eyes are in full flower as Edward Ferrars, but Dominic Cooper as Willoughby isn't hot at all, and how can you have S&S without a Willoughby of brain-melting hawtness?

oh, s&s 2008! i have a soft spot for it because of the scenery. soooo soothing.

i find dominic cooper very charming if not brain-melting hot and considering they went with a plainer marianne, it all felt appropriate at least.

marianne wouldn't have the means to know this, ofc, but if it serves as a consolation, at least cooper's willoughby is "beautifully hung" - http://youtu.be/5aGotnBg-jE

Since there were certainly some heated embraces, Marianne would at least have gotten a hint via doeskin trousers and no underwear! I think Marianne is, in period terms, quite pretty and anyway her Superpower is Being Emo.

Hey colls! I was thinking about making regular posts about what *current* TV we've watched this week but I wouldn't want it to overlap with yours. Do you think Friday mornings would be too close?

Sorry for the late answer! RL has been busy, busy, busy! Friday/Sunday seems good to me too. Well, this comm is pretty quiet on the whole (and doesn't have a lot of members) so I don't think it has to do with the topic really.
