I watched Doctor Who back in the 80's. Tom Baaaaaaker!!! I've only seen a handful of the new series.

I think part of my aversion to the new series is because everyone is in my face about not watching it. It makes me NEVER want to watch it. Which is ridiculous, but I hate when people act like there's something wrong with me for not watching a tv show.

I totally know that feeling, though I've been on both ends of it. :)

ahah yeah, I've gotten so many people to watch Legend of the Seeker and The Almighty Johnsons. But if someone is trying to get me to watch a barely heard of show, I react differently than someone trying to get me to watch something really popular.

ME TOO! I'd see it occasionally and wonder what the heck it was. Somehow, I seemed to catch it at my grandmother's most of the time, so it always makes me think of her.

My sister and I used to pretend we were the doctor and companion, ahhaha.

Have you ever watched Doctor Who, in any of its incarnations?
Yes. I watched Three and Four in high school via our local PBS station. I didn't have a TV when I moved away to college, so I never saw any Five/Six/beyond. We caught the reboot, loved it, and watched faithfully until the "Snowmen" Christmas special.

Do you have a favorite Doctor (s)?
Oh ... I liked them all, really, but especially Three, Four, Nine, and the first few seasons of Eleven.

Favorite Companion(s)? I liked almost all of them, honestly, but special favs are Romana and Leela (Four) and the Ponds (Eleven).

Favorite Episodes and/or moments? I'm not sure I can pick one, honestly. AGMGTW, maybe? if for no other reason than it was the introduction of Vastra and Jenny.

Are you excited about the new Doctor?
I am cautiously intrigued. We'll probably DVR it and go from there.

Have you ever watched Doctor Who, in any of its incarnations? All of the new series. I've tried a few classic-Who episodes but could never get into it.
Tell us about your experience with the show! I actually saw the first series of Torchwood first. I randomly caught a promo for it on BBCA and decided to check it out. After the first series finished, I watched the series 3 finale of Doctor Who and fell instantly in love with Martha Jones. Went back and watched from the start of the new series and have been watching ever since.
Do you have a favorite Doctor (s)? Even though 10 was my first Doctor, 11 will always be my favorite. I fell for him instantly and even when the show/writing annoyed me, I still genuinely loved Matt's Doctor.
Favorite Companion (s)? I actually love them all. Even Mickey grew on me toward the end. Martha, River and Rory are probably my favorites, though.
Favorite Villains? I don't know if I have one? I never loved the Master the way most people seem to and I loathe the Daleks. The Weeping Angels terrified me in the beginning but I was bored of them by series 6.
Favorite Episodes and/or moments? I love just about every episode of series 5. And I absolutely loathe the series 4 finale.
Are you excited about the new Doctor? Yes! Much as I'll miss 11, I'm excited to see what 12 brings to the table.

I watched Torchwood!!! (It seemed less intimidating than a bazzillion seasons of Doctor Who - hee!)
I liked Tosh and Gwen and Owen and, of course, Jack Harkness.

Have you ever watched Doctor Who, in any of its incarnations? Yes, I watched the Fourth Doctor back in the day on my local PBS affiliate. I might have watched the Fifth as well. It's been awhile. I remember trying to explain the premise of the show, how the Doctor changes bodies when he regenerates but under it all, he's the same entity. He didn't get it. He still doesn't. LOL.

Tell us about your experience with the show! I started watching the New Who in the summer before the sixth season as a consequence of reading a brilliant crossover fic by [personal profile] finisterre, The Flexible Concept of Tomorrow. If you're at all familiar with The X-Files and love Donna from Doctor Who, read this fic. You will love it. Reading the story, I fell in love with her character and in fact, I watched her season first. My husband and I are rewatching the first season now.

I loved the ninth Doctor and the tenth Doctor, too. I'm not a fan of the eleventh Doctor. Doctor Who is a fantasy show but there was a certain internal logic to it that has broken down since Steven Moffat took over as showrunner. I know he's wildly popular, and I love some of his individual episodes ("Blink" is brilliant) but I don't care for his overall approach. I won't watch the series again until he's replaced or quits.

Do you have a favorite Doctor? It's still Four, although I've rewatched some of those old episodes and they do not hold up at all. After Four, it's Ten, I think. Although Nine was wonderful, too.

Favorite Companions? Donna. I LOVED DONNA. Runner up is Martha. She's awesome, too.

Favorite Villains? The Weeping Angels but only in "Blink." They were REALLY scary in "Blink." For me, Moffat ruined the concept when he kept bringing them back. The Silence was damn scary, too.

Favorite Episodes and/or moments? "Blink"

Are you excited about the new Doctor? I might be except I'm no longer watching. So, not so much.

Donna was a great companion. Snarky thing that she is.

Have you ever watched Doctor Who, in any of its incarnations?

Yes, the new incarnation. When I first began, I vaguely knew it was an old show. But I had no idea how long it had been on in previous years. I decided I was going to watch ALL THE EPISODES.

And then I found out how many there were. O.o

I began watching some of the classic BW eps on Hulu. Some are... let's just say difficult to get through. They're also hard to find. And I also learned some eps had been lost. I'm such a completist, so this bugs me to no end!

One day when I'm rich I'll buy all that are available. I WILL catch up one day!

Tell us about your experience with the show!

I was introduced to it by a friend who pretty much forced me into watching it. I don't have cable or anything, so she copied eps on DVD and mailed them to me!

She didn't have to work very hard. I was hooked from the first episode on. Rose was basically me - stuck at home, dead end job, desperately wanting adventure.

When Nine tells her:

"What do you think? You could stay here, fill your life with work and food and sleep, or you could go anywhere."

I knew I was lost. And just like Rose, I never looked back.

Do you have a favorite Doctor (s)?

I adored Nine! I have a very hard time with change of any kind, so I didn't think I could survive even the first regeneration. I basically had to think of it as being an entirely new show.

But I've been lucky so far and loved both Ten and Eleven. We'll see how it goes with Twelve.

Favorite Companion (s)?

Oh, Donna! I HATED her when I first met her! She was so loud and obnoxious and annoying. But she quickly won me over. I adored her.

What this show did to her was unforgivable.

Favorite Villains?

You know, the villains have never done a whole lot for me. I guess the Master, if he can be called a villain? I found the Daleks scary at first. But they've been over-used and I'm just tired of them already.

Favorite Episodes and/or moments?

Of course I can't pinpoint anything right now. This show doesn't normally scare me at all, but "Blink" terrified me to the point where even though I'm a rational adult in my 40s, I found myself avoiding statues/gargoyles/figures of that sort. In my old neighborhood there were a few to be seen. I couldn't believe I was actually feeling afraid, against all logic and reason. I'm a grown woman, for goodness' sake! I KNOW a statue can't hurt me! And yet...

And "The Empty Child" really got under my skin for some reason.

Are you excited about the new Doctor?

I am and I was... but was left annoyed and confused by the premiere.

Also, that gif is addicting.

Have you ever watched Doctor Who, in any of its incarnations?
I watched DW from Nine until the beginning of the Eleventh Doctor

Tell us about your experience with the show!

IIRC, I got into Torchwood first. Got curious as to Captain Jack Harkness' origin story--which lead me to watch the series with the Ninth Doctor. Absolutely loved it. But there were certain things that happened with Ten that made me less enthused. By the time 11th came around, I wasn't interested at all. Go figure.

Do you have a favorite Doctor (s)?

NINE!!!! (forever and ever).

Favorite Companion (s)?

Donna Noble. I think she was the realer of all the companions. It's kinda funny because she was a little obnoxious in her first episode, but I grew to really like her. I also liked Martha and thought Rose was cool too.

Favorite Villains?

John Simms. He did that deranged villain thing in a way that was charming and terrifying at the same time.

Favorite Episodes and/or moments?

"The Doctor Dances" for sure! It was a happy episode (which the show really needed after the super creepiness of the previous one).

Are you excited about the new Doctor?

Unfortunately, I'm not. A lot of my friends are and I'm happy they've got new episodes to look forward to.
