Hello
This is your weekly opportunity to chat about non-current TV. Anything goes! Please stop by and tell us what you're watching, what you've been thinking of checking out, etc. Closed canons or something currently airing that you're just behind on -- it's all good. :)
Some possible things you can talk about:
- Have you recently discovered new-for-you shows through online streaming services (like Netflix, Redbox or Amazon Prime)?
- What beloved shows are you re-watching?
- What shows make you feel nostalgic and wish you had someone to talk to about?
- 'Should I watch X or Y?' --- ask the community at large if you should check something out
While we're talking about older shows, here's an interesting article on binge watching.
- Do you binge watch?
'Watch-Along: Show of the Month'
This community had a watch-along a while back for Veronica Mars & Firefly.
I'd like to return to that idea with these Saturday posts, but with a small twist. I'm going to recommend we choose a closed canon show ('Watch-Along Show of the Month'*) and have a dedicated thread in the Saturday posts to chat about that show.
*I realize that some shows are several seasons long and it's not likely that everyone would watch every episode in the space of a month, but for conversational purposes folks might cherry pick and/or coordinate a scheduled watch-along with other members for a favorite episodes, etc. Keeping the time period at one month should allow enough time to discuss and also allow more shows to get some screen time.
So think about if you'd like to re-watch something or mainline something new-for-you and nominate some closed canon shows. Largest number of people nominating a show in the nominations thread below will be our show for August.

thirtysomething: another, even smaller Yuletide fandom. Sigh. It was a great show but my husband won't watch it again. He says it got too depressing. But it has five wonderful, complex female characters! And I loved it so much.
China Beach: because apparently I like really old shows with great female characters that are eligible for Yuletide.
The X-Files!: SCULLY! I know, nine seasons and two movies but I am always up for rewatching selected episodes.
Farscape: A great show, and another one my husband refuses to rewatch (yep, 'cause it's too depressing!). So I know I have this on DVD...somewhere...
Buffy: No. I don't own it, won't buy it, can't stream it and won't *ahem* it.
BSG: No. I don't think I can yet. I loved it so much I bought and gave away DVDs of the first season to try to get people to watch it with me. About the time it got an actual fandom, I rage-quit (great word!) it.

I recently discovered Grimm via streaming site and binge watched it.
My queue runneth over, but I'm in the midst of working on Breaking Bad although I'm not making much progress - haha

They also just rolled out Music Prime but I haven't checked it out yet.
IDK, I don't have cable, so I justified the expense. I think if I had to get rid of one I'd get rid of Netflix and I've had Netflix forever.

I liked Jordan, too - until she perseverated on killing Nathan and then died right as she got over herself. :/ She was entertaining at least.

I discovered Xena in the last couple of years and always want to find people to talk with about it. I know a lot of people who have watched Xena but most don't remember it well!
My main current show is Orphan Black. I love, well, everyone, but especially Sarah and Felix and Mrs. S. And Orange is The New Black! <3 <3

I watched season 1 of Orphan Black and really liked it. I have season 2 on my 'list'. I really like Sarah and Felix, too.

I'm the OB captain, so if you ever want to discuss any of S1 or S2, hop on over there!

I like AtS too! S5 is fun, and I love the final run of episodes a lot. And I really love Gunn's character arc that season.

Earlier in the summer I worked my way through both seasons of Nashville in about 2 weeks, caught up on The Vampire Diaries, Glee and Reign.
I binge watch some things and others I don't. Obviously those 2 seasons of Nashville were a total binge watch, and I binge watched Orange is the New Black when it came out, but I've been going slower with things like The Originals and Grimm. It depends on the show and it depends on my current mood.

Same! I haven't found out what makes something binge-able, but I think your point about depending on mood is probably most of it.
How far along are you in Grimm?
P.S. I like your show nominations! Wonderfalls was a lovely show and I added Rome to my queue-of-doom just the other day - LOL!

I loved Wonderfalls, but I haven't seen it in so long...I do have it on DVD though. I loved Rome but it's been a while since I watched that as well :)
So much good TV and never enough time ;)

The last big show I seriously binge-watched was Scandal right before last season began. My boss and many of my co-workers are huge fans and they recced it to me all the time. As it happened, it began streaming on Netflix and I ended up spending a whole weekend watching the first 2 seasons. It was intense.
Because of how accessible digital is for me, I've mellowed out a lot in regards to watching shows as they air live. This means, of course, that my to-watch list is rather lengthy: Orphan Black, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Defiance, The Leftovers, The Originals, The Vampire Diaries (S5).
I might eventually add Leverage, Longmire, and Justified to that list. They all look like shows that might ping me. Yet, at the same time, all of them are on the verge of being over-hyped to me? Well, OK, maybe not Longmire. But many people both on and offline have been super-effusive in their reasons why I should check those shows out.

I do miss a lot of the chatter about them though, which can be sad.

It's very rare that a non-awards ceremony be available digitally somewhere. After all, outside of streaming (and other things *cough, cough*), a lot of TV networks do have, at least, the latest 5 episodes available online.
I do like the fact that we have a choice to either watch things now or wait until another time. What I do find interesting that marathoning shows (binge watching) has become a lot more prevalent in the past few years.
