I am going to be working on redoing the Show Captains list this week.

laisserais is on a bit of hiatus from active modding right now, so I will be making a brand new post.

Right now the post is out of date. I need to add some of the shows that now have homebases that aren't yet listed.
I'm also planning to take the orphaned shows off the list that are now in hiatus. If anyone would like to adopted an orphaned show or make a new homebase for it for the new season, let me know.

The Vampire Diaries while listed as orphaned is not, I will be make a homebase for that in the Fall and taking over as captain now that I've finally watched the fifth season.

I also plan to take shows that have been canceled off the list.

I'm wondering if we need a sort of old homebase graveyard post in case people want to check out previous posts or if being able to check a show through the tags is enough. Feel free to comment with any opinions on this.

Also please comment if you see yourself listed as a captain for a show you no longer intend to captain.

With new season, you may make a new homebase or you can keep the old one as long as it doesn't have too many comments.
I personally will be making new homebases for the shows I captain with the new seasons.

If you'd like to sign up for an upcoming show that has yet to air, you can, but please only do so if you are serious with following through. You may wait until the coming season is closer before making a homebase. Primers are nice too, but I consider them optional at this point.

Note: Agent Carter is already spoken for.

silverr will be captaining that show when it finally airs!

Any thoughts on how we do the homebase thing, or anything else of a similar nature, please comment here.

I love the graveyard post idea. I've added the few homebase posts I want to come back to to my memories, but for shows I have yet to watch, the graveyard would be a great idea, imho.

An old homebase graveyard post sounds fine, but it also sounds like maybe unnecessary work? (I personally don't see myself consulting old posts much so I'm not sure how needed it is.) Can you edit the tags on old posts and just put a new tag like "ex-homebase post" or something?

I'd like to still be captain of Elementary. I'll wait until it starts airing to start a new homebase for it. (Also, I don't have a poster tag yet, but I can be patient until fall to get that tag.)

I don't think the homebase graveyard post will be that much work. The tagging thing would be work as well and I'm not sure it would be much less work, and I believe tags only go back so far, unless they've changed that. Before it was something like the most 100 more recent posts with that tag. I'm not sure if we'd exceed that now or ever, but it's still a concern.

I added a poster tag to the current homebase so you should be all set with one when you make the new homebase :)

I think it wasn't tagged originally because you adopted it and didn't make the original post, so it didn't get tagged your name. I didn't take the original poster tag off, just added yours on. Hope you don't mind :)

So the Graveyard post would be like the current comprehensive homebase page, sorta? Basically a list of links to the homebases for retired shows?

(P.S. OMG yes I am already vibrating with excitement over Agent Carter. This is the first time in YEARS I'll be watching something as it airs and not 2-10 years later :p)

About home bases for canceled shows, I think searching by show tag should be enough.

I'll stay on as captain of Sleepy Hollow. I think all the other shows I was doing have been cancelled now. :(

No, I'll just need to know within a few days of the show airing again. Around the time I do a "Returning Show" post for it to remind people that the show is coming back. At that point I'll need to start linking to it again there and in the round ups, and that's when I'll need to know or else I'll just default to the old link.

More or less, yes. I would add the season or seasons for what the homebase covered and I wouldn't really need to list the captain (though I still could...though sometimes homebases have been orphaned and then taken over by new people, and that could get confusing) and it wouldn't need to list the day of airing. But other than that it would basically be a list of links to the homebases for retired homebases, yeah.

I'm really looking forward to watching Agent Carter too!!! Very exciting :)

I still want to Captain The Walking Dead when it returns in October (*whines* so far away). I'll probably just keep the homepage that's up now as there's not too many comments on there.

Yay, for Sleepy Hollow! So much sadness for cancelled shows. I'm already missing Intelligence :(

I'd just like to see some more activity in general. Even on shows with home bases, no one's participating. Gets boring talking to myself. I can do that on my own journal. DW's the deadest place, ever.

I'd love to see more activity as well, but it is what it is. DW isn't exactly heavy with activity and even LJ has been experiencing some serious slow down in many of their communities. Everything seems to be about tumblr these days, but I'm not sure what can be done to change that.

I get that, I've captain several home bases now and very few have been that active and one never got any comments beyond the ones that I posted myself. I try not to let it get me down, and just enjoy it when I can get discussions going.

Poo okay, I cannot deal with Graceland being homebaseless because I need to flail. I'm gonna captain that show.
