TV Tuesday: Should Auld Acquaintance

Laptop-TV combo with DVDs on top and smartphone on the desk

Are there shows that you’ve noticed have had a revival on social media or fan spaces in the last few years? Are there any you're glad to see coming back?

It's not a big revival or anything, but when I brought up that I'd started watching Murder She Wrote in my journal, I got a more enthusiastic response than I was expecting, and I know at least other DW friend who is actively watching episodes. Not bad for a show that's over 40 years old.

I'm always amused when I see House posts on Tumblr. Don't think I would ever get fannish about it as I did back in the day, but I remember those days with fondness. (I genuinely cannot imagine a 2025 version of tongue-in-cheek platonic M/M life partnerships such as House/Wilson or Alan/Denny from Boston Legal.)

House M.D., Columbo, and M*A*S*H are a few older shows that have gotten a kind of resurgence in fandom spaces that surprised me, but in a pleasant kind of way. Sometimes it makes me wonder what sparked such an interest and why it suddenly blows up the way it did. Although I theorize that because so many newer shows now have less episodes and it takes too long for seasons to be released many are either revisiting or are just discovering older shows in the meantime and some just catch on somehow.

I've enjoyed a lot of discussions about Gilmore Girls and Sex and the City on youtube in the last two years. I'm glad to see shows that mainly feature women get so much focus these days. Especially Sex and the City is the kind of show you can endlessly rewatch and discuss.

Murder she wrote still runs weekly on German TV so the show is alive and well here. :D
