It gives me warm fuzzies to see that NCIS is still on the top of that list.

I'm in the UK, but I was really surprised, I'd never realised it was so popular! I don't watch it myself, but my sisters both love it.

The only ones on that list I really love are Scandal and The Good Wife, glad to see them both up there.

They publish the weekly ratings charts in the newspaper here and NCIS is always right on top, or close to it. NCIS: LA also. LOVE that show.

I don't watch Scandal or The Good Wife, haha.

Pleased to see The Blacklist doing so well - when it first aired, I was convinced I was the only one loving Spader's scenery chewing... ;)

The Walking Dead and The Good Wife are the only ones that would make my list. I also watch Scandal but I don't think it'd make my Top 10 current shows list. How to Get Away with Murder would though.

I'm not tremendously surprised NCIS is on the list. There's no way a show with that kind of longevity isn't popular. Same thing with Criminal Minds. It is a little odd to see it on the top spot, though.

The only show I'm perplexed to see listed is Blue Bloods. Not only do I not know anyone who watches it offline or online, but I've to see any kind of discussion about it anywhere.

I'd probably knock off Blue Bloods and add Empire and How to Get Away With Murder in a tie (both being the breakout shows for this season).

I love 'Blue Bloods'! I've tried posting on it here, but there's zero interest.

I get what you mean. Replace Blue Bloods with Revenge and that's exactly my experience. ;)

In all truth, most of my surprise is because I didn't even know that the show is still airing. Though, hey, every show has its audience.

Yeah, with the bazillion channels (and ways people watch) shows seem to have niche audiences. To be honest, I kind of miss the days when basically the whole culture at least knew the names and basic premise of shows, even if they personally didn't watch them!

Like I mentioned in my comment above, I'm more perplexed that Blue Blood is still on the air. It's one of those shows I've never heard any buzz about.

I'm thinking that Empire didn't make it because either it hadn't begun airing when the poll was taken OR the pool of people who answered the poll don't watch that show. Offline/in RL, I've come across a lot of people talking about Empire. I'm not sure if even the producers thought it was going to take off like it did.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned the different ways people watch TV nowadays from, say, 15 - 20 years ago. There have been a lot of channels circa the 1980s so I'm not counting that as a factor.

For example, with the exception of Empire, How to Get Away with Murder, and Scandal, I rarely (if ever) watch live TV anymore. I'm either streaming it or waiting for entire seasons to show up on Netflix. It's something of a double-edge sword: I can watch TV shows whenever I feel like it BUT I also have to work hard on avoiding spoilers. It's not an issue for less popular TV shows, but it's deffo a headache if I don't watch Empire on Wednesday night (for example).

Oh, I hear you! I am not only the last person on earth without cable of any kind (as well as an old, tube/non-digital TV!) but it doesn't even work anymore. I used to be able to at least get a couple of channels and watch most of shows, if I sat in a certain spot and stood on one foot, holding the antenna with one hand. But even that stopped working. So I now I catch stuff via the interwebs. It's great to have it at all, but I can never remember when anything actually airs! And yep, I have to be careful of spoilers.

Ah, well. It beats Ye Olde Times when if you missed an episode and didn't tape it, you were out of luck until reruns came along. And if you missed it then... you were REALLY out of luck!
