Keeping track of your tv shows

Hi everyone,

what tools / websites do you use to keep track of your shows? I've recently begun using episodecalender.com, which worked wonderfully for a bit - but now the site is restricting non-premium users to 20 shows, and I'm looking around for alternatives.

I'm still using episodecalendar because I can't keep up with more than a few shows so the restriction isn't hampering me.

I did a quick search for alternatives and found this article
http://alternativeto.net/software/tv-episode-calendar/

The only one I've heard of before is the iTV which I contemplated using to track shows on my iPhone at one point. I can't recall why I stopped? (probably just got so behind on TV that it become a moot point, IDK)
Maybe you'll find something useful there?

Mainly just my brain. I tend to keep a pretty good track in my head on which shows I want to watch are on.

Since I download all but a few shows that I watch live, I just go by the last thing I downloaded subtitles for, haha. It's strangely effective. Though, I have started using episode calendar. I'm not watching that many shows, so it's well under 20.

I don't watch many shows as I'm restricted to what's on regular TV since I don't have cable. But I created a google docs spreadsheet and that's helped me to remember the shows I watch and their times

We don't watch much, so usually just put names of new things in the DVR, tbh. The cable co's website lets me add new shows (and I can also check for what I've recorded.)

I don't know which website alorarose uses but subtitle sites like Addic7Ed lets you fave shows so you always know when new subtitles are available. As it's generally right after the show's been broadcasted that lets you there was a new ep (it's also a good way to know when an ep has been leaked or broadcasted earlier in *cough*Canada*cough* other countries...). I'm pretty sure you can do the same thing with download sites.
Of course this is still far less convenient than episodecalendar.

I use http://www.pogdesign.co.uk/cat/ which I'm pretty sure doesn't have a limit. It's pretty good about adding new shows, too.

I only need help when I'm really behind on stuff. Or I'm starting a new show. If I'm watching on Netflix, it keeps track for me, otherwise I'm all "wtf did i watch last?"

I use http://thefutoncritic.com You create a free account and add as many shows as you want to your My Shows list. It is US-oriented, English language & scripted (including things like Project Runway and Top Chef) shows only. But for those things, it's great. You can view the My Listings section in either daily or monthly form. You can have the site email you when updates/news about your shows are posted (it's opt in). It's the best thing I've found for reminding me when a new episode will come on.

I hope so as well.

Mostly, it's because I tend to be picky about the shows I watch (mostly because most of the time I don't want to get invested in a show like I have in the past and have it get cancelled after a season or less.)

Most of the times, I'll make sure a show is going to at least get a second season before I chance looking at it (not all the time: Joss Whedon shows tend to break my heart in this manner - Agents of SHIELD thus far the exception *knocks on wood*). The Flash has been an exception, as I managed to get linked to the leaked pilot and liked what I saw enough to jump onboard the ground floor.

I avoid most FOX shows since most FOX shows I like get cancelled in their first season. *bitter, bitter Dollhouse fan*

I watched it and yeah, it sucks that FOX did that (they did it to Dollhouse to, so, typical FOX).

It's hard, but I also don't want to go through the pain of watching something in it's first season and then get to the end and find out there's not going to be anymore. Especially if it ends on a cliffhanger or with several plot points dangling.

one would think, but it's very basic lol

I have it broken down by network (cbs, abc, fox, nbc and the CW), then by days of the week and times

I am so glad that there is such a thing as DVRs now! That's what I use. I don't know what I'd do without autorecord!

And sadly, even shows that go more than one season aren't immune from dangling cliffhangeritis (looking at you Angel!)

Pretty much, eventually we get burned when invested. Beauty in the pain, or something like that.

http://www.myepisodes.com/

you need to register, but it never bothers you with emails or anything else.
you can add and ignore shows, unignore them if you want to give them a try again... best site for me.

I'm glad you figured it out on your own (and that you like the site) :)
It's my favorite "tv calendar" site :)
